SHAWANO SPEEDWAY HALL OF FAME NIGHT SEES FOUR NEW INDUCTEES (submitted by Brandon  Reichenberger)

(SHAWANO, WI) JUNE 7 – The Shawano Speedway has a long and rich history of stock car racing with over 60 years worth to speak of. On this beautiful Saturday night Jeff Teske, Joe Haferkorn, and John & Soon Stezenski were officially inducted as the newest members of the Shawano Speedway Hall of Fame.

The IMCA Sport Mods kicked off the feature action at the big ½ mile on this night. The driver to watch in this one was Seymour’s Tim Jorgenson piloting his 118 machine to victory lane. The field was brought to the green flag by Green Bay’s Andrew Engles & Iron River MI driver Josh Fleischmann. Fleischmann looked to be the guy to beat early on using the high side to keep his #906 machine wound up and out front. A handful of yellow flags throughout this one kept the field fairly bunched up and allowed drivers like
Tim Jorgenson to take advantage on multiple restarts. Jorgenson stormed to the front from the 10th starting spot using the high side to rip around the speedway eventually taking the lead with just a few laps remaining. Trailing Jorgenson at the checkers was Josh Fleischmann, Dustin Wudstrack, Bryce Clements and Forrest Kernen.

The IMCA Stock Cars showed why they get called “The class they call too tough to tame”. It was just a ½ car length that separated the top 2 at the checkers. When the dust settled it was Pulaski’s “Snelly” Devin Snellenberger emerging victorious over hometown driver Trent Nolan. Early on Travis Welch paced the field, but Snellenberger was on a mission to make up for his misfortunes from one week ago while battling for 2nd. As the laps clicked off, Trent Nolan and Tyler Wilson made charges into the top 3 and looked as though they may both have something for Snellenberger. Coming to the
white flag one car length separated the leaders. As the top 2 entered turn 3 for the final time Nolan threw his #25 machine deep into the corner hoping it would stick and it did.

Off turn 4 a drag race to the line between the 2 Stock Car hot shoes would bring the crowd to its feet. Following Snellenberger and Nolan at the finish were Tyler Wilson, Jeremy Christians and Dan Michonski.

In the IMCA Modifieds Seymour’s Konnor Wilinski made a triumphant return to Shawano Speedway and left with a feature win. The driver of the #6 machine used his front row starting spot to his advantage to fly around the high side for 20 laps and use the cushion to open up a full straightaway lead early on this one.

After a pair of Domino’s Pizza yellow flags flew and brought the field closer, another driver emerged as a possible candidate to steal the win. Clintonville’s Lucas Lamberies in the “Flying Zero” came from outside row 5 and would do his best to make a late race charge at Wilinski cutting 2 car lengths a lap out of the lead the last 3 laps. Time would run out on Lamberies as he settled for second. The rest of the top 5 included Marcus Yarie, Austin Winkel, and Jordan Bartz.

The Mighty 4’s closed out the night, and saw Lexi Michonski and Landon Braatz lead the field to green. After a couple laps went by, a trio of drivers came from rows 4-6 to claim the top 3 positions. Brad Wedde came from inside row 5 and used multiple grooves on the track to work his way to the top spot by halfway. Behind him Justin Haufe and Taylor Junk secured their spots in the top 3, but neither of these drivers would have anything for Wedde’s #37 on this night. The checkered flag would fly and see Brad Wedde victorious over Justin Haufe, Taylor Junk, Clint Hattermann and
Landon Braatz.
