WEDELSTADT SCORES IMCA MOD CAREER WIN NO. 117 AT 141 SPEEDWAY
(FRANCIS CREEK, WI) May 17 – Fremont veteran Mike Wedelstadt slipped past Russ Reinwald of Beaver Dam with two laps remaining to capture his 117th career IMCA modified feature win at 141 Speedway Saturday.
After Saturday’s race, Wedelstadt ranks fourth in Wisconsin’s all time, IMCA modified feature winners, behind Casco’s Benji LaCrosse (143), Seymour’s Brian Mullen (130) and Green Bay’s R.M. Van Pay (129).
Wedelstadt started seventh in the 25 lap contest, and hovered around the top five for the first half of the race. Meanwhile, polesitter Reinwald held the early lead and faced a challenge by Wedelstadt’s wife, Kelsey Wedelstadt in the early going.

Kelsey wrestled the lead from Reinwald and held the spot until Reinwald repassed her for the lead on lap eight. A lap 19 yellow tightened the field, and on the restart, Mike Wedelstadt motored into the second spot, and began challenging Reinwald for the lead. Mike Wedelstadt powered up on the high side of the track, while Reinwald hugged the bottom. Wedelstadt snatched the lead on lap 23 and cruised to victory.
Reinwald hung on to take second, with Josh Long, Jeff Schmuhl and Johnny Whitman rounding out the top five finishers. At the finish, three Wedelstadt’s finished in the top ten, with Kelsey placing seventh and Mike’s son Tony Wedelstadt finishing ninth.
Seymour’s Mike Mullen charged through the field from his 13th starting spot, and reeled in leader Tyler Wilson and passed him on lap 17 and cruised to the IMCA stock car feature win. Wilson settled for second at the pay window, followed by Austin Jansen, Luke Lemmens and Phil Mott rounding out the top five.

Next weekend will see a doubleheader of racing at 141. On Saturday, a full regular, points paying program will take place. An exhibition race will take place between Off Road racing standout C.J. Greaves and Cole Czarneski.
On Sunday, the IRA Outlaw sprint cars will be on hand. Support classes include the IRA Lightning sprints, Midwest Legends Dirt Series and IMCA sport compacts who will compete in a non-points race.
