VLIES GETS WIN NO. 17 IN ’26 – CZARNESKI, EBERT ALSO SNAG 141 MAINS
(FRANCIS CREEK, WI) AUGUST 22 – The “Casco Kid” Coy Vlies helped his chances in his IMCA sportmod national points chase by capturing the IMCA sportmod feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday.
The victory was Vlies’ 17th on the season on area ovals. The second-generation driver grabbed the lead by passing Kaden Besaw of Omro on the 16th circuit to claim his 17th feature win locally this season.
Besaw settled for 2nd at the checkers, followed by Cole Thomas, Carsin Cullen and Logan Brass.
Bear Creek’s Jason Ebert led-wire-to-wire, leading all 25 laps en route to victory in the IMCA modified feature. The win was Ebert’s first here of the season.
Ebert had built up a full straightaway lead. That margin was wiped out by a caution on lap 10, which tightened the field. When racing resumed, Ebert kept his foot to the floor, and powered his way to victory on the wet, heavy clay oval.
Green Bay rookie Austin Jansen placed second, with polesitter Mike Wedelstadt, Russ Reinwald and Adam Crapser finishing third through fifth, respectively.
Denmark’s Cole Czarneski whisked past Appleton’s Zackary Marg for the lead on lap 13 and cruised to another IMCA stock car feature flag.
Marg hung on for second place money. Rod Snellenberger, Brian Crapser and Todd Augustian rounded out the top five finishers.
Luxemburg’s Shanon Guelette fought off a hard-charging Cody Potter in the final laps to score the street stock feature win.
The event was red flagged following a multi-car pileup in turn four on the second lap. The wreck sidelined seven of the original 25 cars that started the main.
Montello’s Jeff Richards and Chilton’s Mike Meier each scored clean sweeps in the grand national and IMCA sport compact divisions, respectively.
The show was delayed getting started by one hour and 11 minutes, due to rain showers that pelted the track just before the scheduled start time of 6 p.m. Between track crews and several race teams chipping in to help pack the track, the full, six-division show was still completed before 10:30 p.m.
Next Saturday, August 29 will be Gandrud Chevrolet championship night at the speedway. Champions will be crowned in all divisions. The action gets underway at 6 p.m. For more information check out our website 141speedway.com or check out our Facebook page.
