TURK TOPS DIRT KINGS, WEEKEND WRAPUP & UPDATED REGIONAL DIRT FEATURE WIN TOTALS

Mother nature washed out most dirt track racing in northeast Wisconsin on Saturday and Sunday while Friday night was pretty much a go in the region.
It was a night of “firsts” for a pair of racers from Milwaukee to Green Bay. Turk Letizia earned his first feature flag of the 2022 campaign in Dirt Kings Tour action with a victory at Plymouth Dirt Track while Green Bay’s Hunter Parsons pulled off the same fete in the IMCA modifieds at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour.
Some track titles were sealed due to the rainouts at respective tracks. As we head into Labor Day weekend other champions will be crowned.
OUTAGAMIE UPDATE – The final night of points racing is slated to take place at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday Sept. 2. A full program of the track’s five weekly divisions will take place. After the Friday night event a pair of Saturday night shows are on tap at the third-mile, clay oval in Seymour.
Saturday September 10 the track will host the “Prelude To The Brawl” in which the grand national division will join the track’s weekly divisions. The 2022 “Fall Brawl” will cap off the season of racing at Seymour Saturday Sept. 17 which will include the track’s weekly classes and the Dirt Kings late model Tour. The raindate for that event will be Sunday, Sept. 18 if needed.
STURGEON BAY – The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay will host it’s Shootout Special featuring a draw/redraw format Saturday, Sept. 3. Racing action at John Miles Park gets underway at 6 p.m.
LUXEMBURG – The ‘Burg Speedway in Luxemburg will be quiet for the month of September but will come to life for the final hurrah of the season at the Fall Classic on October 1. Be sure to check the track’s Facebook page in September for any updates on that event at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.
LITTLE BUCKAROO – There will be no racing this Labor Day weekend at Little Buckaroo Jr. Motorsports Park in Cecil. The popular kart oval will host a pair of season ending races September 9 for Fox Communities Credit Union kids coin toss night and Mike’s Plumbing and Heating championship night will take place September 16. EAGLE RIVER SATURDAY – Eagle River Speedway will host it’s season finale Saturday, September 3 with racing beginning at 6 p.m.
The track’s weekly divisions will be in action along with grand nationals and pure stocks. A $1,500 top prize will be paid out for the late model division while $1,000-to-win paydays are on tap for drivers in both the B modified and stock car divisions, respectively.
PAVEMENT PONDERINGS – The final “Thursday Night Thunder” program of 2022 at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, Wisconsin takes place Sept. 1. One tight points battle involves Verona’s Dalton Zehr and Appleton’s Jeff Van Oudenhoven in the super late model class.
Heading into the final night Zehr, who races for Gildan Racing, holds a 15 point edge over “JVO.” In the late model class Appleton’s Bryan Monday holds a 39 point margin over rookie J.J. “Red Rocket” Vander Loop of Freedom.
The closest points chase involves the Sizzlin’ 4’s as just one point separates Neenah’s Justin Fickel over Menasha’s Tom Schweitzer.
In super stock action hometown driver Trevor Howard enjoys a 30 point margin over Josh Mueller while “Rockstar Russ” Lorbiecki holds a slim five point advantage over Little Chute’s Ethan Beattie in the Figure 8’s.
Freedom’s Bobby Wautier has a 26 point lead over Freedom’s Cody Vander Loop in the sport trucks while Neenah veteran Rick Spoo clinched the WIR 1/4 mile late model title a week ago. Action gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Track points numbers were pulled off of MyRacePass on Monday, August 29.
ARCA MIDWEST TOUR – The $15,555-to-win Jim Sauter Classic is set to take place at Dells Raceway Park Saturday, Sept. 3. The event honors the former DRP and ARTGO racing champion. Action gets underway at 6 p.m. For more information you can check midwesttour.racing or dellsracewaypark.com.
TUNDRA TIME – Round 5 for the Tundra Super Late Model Series will be Monday, Labor Day September 5 at Golden Sands Speedway in Plover, Wisconsin. Qualifying takes place at 12:15 p.m. with the first green flag flying at 2 p.m.
Joining the TUNDRA travelers will be Wisconsin sport trucks, legends, Bandoleros and American Super Cups.
NCAL MARSHFIELD RESCHEDULED – The Whelen World Crate Asphalt Late Model Championship presented by Ken’s Sports at Marshfield Motor Speedway has been rescheduled for Friday night, September 16. The event was washed out Aug. 27.
BOB IVERSON MEMORIAL – Champions will be crowned at Norway (MI) Speedway on Dickinson County Fair night Sunday, Sept. 4 with racing getting underway at 4 p.m.
The Bob Iverson Memorial will showcase a 100 lap late model feature at the third-mile, paved oval. The raindate, if needed at Norway, will be Monday Labor Day Sept. 5. Check norwayspeedway.com or the track’s Facebook page for more information.
