TRUSCOTT NIPS JOLIFF IN EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY B MOD PHOTO FINISH

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) AUG. 4 – The margin of victory was a mere .035 seconds, when Chippewa Falls’ Michael Truscott squeezed passed Kory Joliff at the line to win the B modifed feature win at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday in a photo finish.

The victory here was Truscott’s second here in three weeks of racing for the veteran racer.

Truscott started deep in the field in for four, and moved into second by lap three, and kept early race leader Kory Joliff in his sights. A lap 13 caution for a turn four skirmish between Braedyn Kirtland and Tad Schoonover tightened the field. On the restart, Truscott stayed glued to Joliff’s rear bumper.

With three circuits remaining, Truscott ducked underneath Joliff on laps 18 and 19, respectively, coming off of corner four. On the white flag lap, Truscott pulled alongside Joliff door-to-door, edging Joliff by inches at the checkers to score the victory.

Joliff took home second place money. Dave Dishaw, Jason Zdroik and Frank “The Tank” Gasperini rounded out the top five finishers.
The USRA late model division saw a first time feature winner in hometown driver Jeff Thomas. And the fans were once again treated to another photo finish at the checkers.

Thomas sprinted into the lead from his pole position at the drop of the green of the 20 lap contest. Defending track champion Lucas Peterson bolted into the second spot on lap four, but not before Thomas was able to put a several car length lead over the field.

At the halfway point, Peterson began closing the gap on Thomas on the final circuit, Peterson pulled alongside of Thomas coming out of turn four. Thomas fended off Peterson at the stripe. The slim margin of victory stood at .087 seconds.

Finishing third through fifth were Jason McFadden, Zack Friske and Zdroik.

Former track champion “Hot Rod” Snellenberger of Pulaski grabbed the lead with five laps remaining and cruised to his fourth feature flag here of the 2026 campaign. Hometown driver Dustin White took second place, followed by Zdroik, Mitch Stankowski and last week’s feature winner Keslie Richards.

Hometown driver Ben Pitlik snatched the lead on the second lap, and fought off a late race surge by Hope Eisel to capture the street stock feature. Eisel took second, followed by her dad and defending track champion Jason Eisel. Jack Brickner took fourth, with 12-year-old Lucas Zdroik placing fifth.

Phillips’ Devin Fries found victory lane for the fifth time in ’26, winning the caution-free pure stock feature.

Rhinelander’s Blake Joslin picked up the 600 micro sprint feature win at Eagle River Speedway Aug. 4. (Castle Creations Media)

Rhinelander’s Blake Joslin fought off a stiff challenge from Michigander Ethan Manninen to score his first, 600 micro sprint feature win of the season here.

Twin Lakes, Michigan’s Carter Aho scored a thrilling, last lap pass for the lead and went on to capture his fourth 300 micro sprint feature here of the season.

Next week, Eagle River Speedway will host the biggest paying race in the track’s 51-year history. The first ever “Rumble At The River” will pay out $10,250 in the B modified feature. Drivers from several states will be in attendance.

A test-and-tune session and pre-technical inspection of the cars is slated for Sunday, August 9. Qualifying races will be run Monday night, with the top five finishers from a pair of qualifying features being ‘locked in’ to starting spots for Tuesday’s big race. On Tuesday, B mod drivers will get another chance to battle their way into the big show, as an entirely new set of heat races will be run.

Support classes for this big event will be: IMCA stock cars (Monday), and IMCA stock cars, unified street stocks and 300 micro sprints on Tuesday.

Racing starts at 6:30 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday nights. The test-and-tune, which is free for fans to enjoy, is set to begin at 6 p.m. For more information check out the track’s Facebook page.
