CLINTONVILLE, WI – WISSOTA late model drivers in Northeastern Wisconsin will have their shot at a record season ending point fund in 2004 as Seubert Calf Ranches and Gold Star Racing Supplies have come together to back the TRI-TRACK CHALLENGE.

The TRI-TRACK CHALLENGE for WISSOTA late models will take place at the Langlade County Speedway in Antigo, Shawano Speedway, and Seymour Tri-oval Raceway. The season-long program will take a drivers top six points nights from each track and crown an overall champion. Over $15,000 in cash has been set aside for the program with further contingency sponsors to be announced.

“This is the type of thing that will help all of the tracks and put some extra excitement into the season long points races,” said Gold Star Racing owner Ed Bertram. “All of the tracks over here are under the WISSOTA banner and strongly behind that. This way each can help each other by promoting the late model class and building on the car count.”

Seubert Calf Ranches has become a strong player in dirt late model racing throughout the Upper Midwest and across the country. Located in Dorchester, WI, Seubert Calf Ranches is known for careful handling and transportation of livestock. Seubert’s racing operation includes sponsorship of cars, programs within different series, and promotion of individual racing events.

Gold Star Racing Supplies in Clintonville, WI, continues to be the leader in supplying race car parts to drivers in Northeastern Wisconsin. GSR services drivers from their location on Highway 45 or at many of the area tracks. GSR Kartway, located adjacent to the main store, has grown to become one of the most successful go-cart tracks in the country.

Details on the all new program were recently completed among the three tracks. The guidelines state that a driver must compete at each speedway a minimum of six times during 2004 with a driver’s best five point nights at each track counting toward the championship. Points will be accumulated based on the WISSOTA point system.

“What we are doing here is giving the guys that support the regional racing in Northeastern Wisconsin a chance to gain some money at the end of the year without really changing their schedule,” said Bertram, who had one presided over the AllStar Late Model Association, a group that preceded WISSOTA in governing late model racing in the area. “The major difference between this program and what we had before is that to be eligible you have to run six times at each track. Before it was more demanding but six times at each place is much easier.”

The TRI-TRACK CHALLENGE will award point fund money to all drivers that compete in the minimum number of events thus opening the program to any driver and rewarding those that are staunch backers of late model racing in the area.

“Late model racing is really popular in Northeastern Wisconsin, perhaps the top draw for fans in the area,” said current NEW Dirt President Vern Doxtator. “This is something that I believe will really help us at Seymour. It’s been a struggle the past couple years with the late model division but the TRI-TRACK program is a long time coming and should benefit all three places.”

Bertram sees more on the horizon for the newly created championship.
“The $15,000 is just the tip of the iceberg as far as I’m concerned. Every day I have a new idea on where this can go and what we can do. I expect to see more than $15,000 paid out at the end of the year and plenty of product awards to go along with it. Right now we’re in the infant stages of a program that could grow very quickly.”
