Unlike the modified and stock car divisions, there aren’t many active drivers remaining when it comes to Wisconsin’s all time IMCA winners in the northern sportmod division.

Heading into 2023 only two out of the top 10 in all-time victories remain active in the division. Hazel Green’s Jason Roth sits fifth with 34 wins while Luxemburg native Chris “Dr. Love” Budzban sits tied with Little Suamico’s Josh Long for 10th with twenty wins.

To date those are the only two racers out of the top ten in all time IMCA Wisconsin wins who plan on battling in the division this year.

Budzban can almost be considered the elder statesman of the division in the greater Green Bay area.

2023 will mark the 14th year behind the wheel for the website designer. With four young kids at home, Budzban will abandon any weekly racing plans in ’23 and focus instead on the higher paying special events which include 141 Speedway in Francis Creek as well as the Outagamie Speedway Fall Brawl in Seymour, The ‘Burg Speedway fall special and the Escanaba Speedway Yooper Classic. “I’m even running the same body panels as last year,” Budzban explained.

Hazel Green’s Jason Roth sits fifth in all time wins with 34. Roth lives in southwestern Wisconsin and his 2023 plans are to remain in the IMCA northern sportmod class where he plans to compete weekly in Dubuque, Iowa on Sunday nights and traveling to different sanctioned ovals throughout Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.

Take a glance at the list below. Some drivers have moved up into different divisions while others have retired from racing altogether.
