ALGOMA’S TODD DART EARNS 60th HILL RACEWAY VICTORY

By Edward Anschutz

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) September 3, 2021 Race Report – “Felix” Todd Dart of Algoma captured his 60th Hill Raceway victory Saturday night. Dart normally known for his accolades in the Modified division, got behind the wheel of the #99 Terry Conlon prepared Sport Mod and scored a clean sweep.

Action was red-flagged on two separate occasions, the first coming during a Baby Bomber qualifier when Tessa Ducat-Johnson barreled rolled her machine in turn 2. Tessa was awake and alert but was taken by Ambulance for further evaluation. The other came during the Stock Car feature when Nick Buckarma also rolled. Nick was ok but his machine was done for the night.

When the green flew for the Sport Mod feature it was Mike Plate taking command early on as Elijah Koenig gave chase. Early cautions kept the field bunched as Dart worked into the top five after starting in row 6. Koenig began to pressure Plate just past the midway point, as Dart raced to third. Koenig slipped by down low to lead on lap 14 but contact with an infield tractor tire ended his night as the caution flew. On the restart Dart pounced, using the high side to race by Plate for the top spot. Once up-front Dart pulled away to score the win. Plate placed a strong second, Chris Budzban took third, 2021 champion Randy LeMieux Jr was fourth and Russ Franks complete the top five.

In Stock Car action it was Rob Waechter leading the field until the red flew for the rolled machine of Nick Backarma on lap 5. During the red flag track officials determined that Waechter didn’t adhere to the red flag rules and he was sent to the pits. This handed the lead over to two-time champion Brett Wenzel. Wenzel held off all challengers to claim his 3rd feature win of the season. Dave Bouche debuted a brand-new G-Force Race Car and made a late race charge to place second, Charlie Kroll took third, Dan Sell Jr rallied to place fourth after a trip down pit lane and Billy LeMieux rounded out the top five.

Shanon Guellette lead all 20 laps to score his first win of the season in the Unified Dirt Street Stocks at the Hill. Dave DeGrave held off a hard charging Jesse Krahn to place second, Krahn was third, Ford Malvitz took fourth and Jason Geyer completed the top five.

Adam Broehm was victorious for the 3rd time this season in the Baby Bombers. Broehm was trailed to the checkers by Skyler Bork, James Riske, Garrett Goetsch and Megan Scovronski.
