SNELLENBERGER, SOLOMON STRIKE PAYDIRT IN EAGLE RIVER SEASON FINALE

(Aho, Pember also nab four figure paydays in feature wins)

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) Sept. 3 – Chase Solomon of Oshkosh turned his decision to tow north a most profitable one Saturday night. The Grand National racer was deemed the winner of the division’s feature at Eagle River Speedway after he tangled with Greenville’s T.J. Smith on the final lap as the pair were exiting turn four to the checkers.

Track officials charged Smith with the caution and awarded Solomon the victory, which was worth $2,200.

It was another non-local racer who struck paydirt – third-generation racer Devin Snellenberger. The Pulaski driver scored a wire-to-wire stock car feature win – one that fattened his wallet to the tune of $1,000. Snellenberger was pressured most of the race by two-time track champion David Blackberg. However, Blackberg dropped out with mechanical failure with five laps remaining.

Hometown driver Ryan Brown applied pressure in the waning laps but settled for second at the checkers.

Two other divisions served up four figure payouts and when the dust settled it was a pair of weekly racers who took home the lion’s share of the purse.

Pittsville’s Eric Pember fought off a tenacious race long challenge from Minnesota visitor Dylan Kromschroeder to score the $1,500 Sweetwater late model feature. In the B mods 2022 track champion Jesse Aho found the dry slick track conditions to his liking. Aho bided his time through several caution periods and snuck inside race leader George Dalbeck for the lead with five laps remaining to seal the deal.

In pure stock action Rhinelander’s Jason Melton was the class of the field capturing the division’s main event while Sheboygan’s Jack Wiroll scored the street stock feature.

Coal Valley, Illinois’ Aiden Leingang made the long tow to northern pay off with a flag-to-flag win in the 600-micro class.

The 300 micro feature winners were Kaeden Bethel of Tomahawk and Eagle River’s Mason Meier.

A stock car heat was red flagged when two-time track champion Rod Snellenberger of Pulaski was involved in a three-car tangle which sent his racer into a barrel roll. Snellenberger was unhurt but his car suffered significant damage.

A season high 131 cars jammed the track’s newly expanded pit area adjacent to turns three and four. Drivers from four different states took part in the track’s season finale.

Track promoters Pat and Patti Zdroik would like to thank the race teams, race fans and track staff for their support during the 2022 season. Plans are already underway on crafting the 2023 schedule.
