(Dunbar, WI) – Longtime dirt late model racer, IMCA modified champion and 2024 Shawano Speedway Hall of Famer Verlyn Giguere will be featured in a seven-episode podcast series with motorsports author & historian Joe Verdegan at Verdegan’s racing news/history website joeverdegan.com beginning April 29.
Giguere, a Green Bay native who has been a tavern owner in Marinette County for many years, raced more than 100 times in one season in the 1990’s. A former drag racer, Giguere got his start in oval track racing as a late model rookie at Shawano Speedway in the early 1980’s.
Giguere also found much success driving IMCA modifieds. Many of Giguere’s modified wins and track championships came while driving for longtime car owner Bernie Baye, who passed away earlier this year.
The podcast series episodes will be dropped on Mondays. The episodes can be found on the ‘On The Record’ tab at joeverdegan.com and can be listened to through a variety of venues, including Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Castrol & Google Podcasts.
ABOUT JOE VERDEGAN – The best-selling author and motorsports journalist has penned seven books, including the 2016 release ‘Wisconsin International Raceway – Where The Big Ones Run.’ Verdegan also served as track announcer at WIR in the mid 1990’s as well as several other tracks in Wisconsin in Michigan during a 42 year span.
