SEIZING SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES by Joe Verdegan

It’s May 1 – and although it may not currently seem like it in the Upper Midwest, summer will be here soon.

Why is summer important to you – the stock car racer? Away from the track there is essentially no shortage of community festivals, car shows, parades and the like from May through September.

With your racing operation, be it on dirt or asphalt, oval track, off road or drag racing, the warmer summer months serve up multiple opportunities to showcase your racing operation away from the racetrack.

If there is any type of community parade in a community near you – by all means, try to get involved and be a part of it. For multiple reasons.

For one, you are showcasing your product to some non-race fans. When kids see your car on an open trailer at a parade, it won’t take long for them to prod mom and dad to take them to the races some day or night. What’s more, a parade has great potential for you to mingle with business owners on a true home grown B2B (Business-to-Business) setting.

Over the years I’ve heard of a few occasions where having your race car entered in a parade has caught the eye of more than one small business owner who happened to be attending the parade. The car itself will be a true conversation piece at the parade. You never know who might be watching.

If you have any success stories with events like parades, car shows etc. and landing a marketing partner along the way we’d love to hear from you!

We can help you with putting your sponsorship decks together. Shoot me an email at jverdegan2@gmail.com and we can get the ball rolling. Thanks to our core of drivers, car owners and other racing enthusiasts who take the time to read this monthly tips. Have a great 2023!
