RICHARDS SHADES RUH – SCORES TERRY VAN ROY MEMORIAL AT GRAVITY PARK USA

(CHILTON, WI) JUNE 20 – Montello’s Jeff Richards led every lap and fought off a late race surge from Elkhart Lake’s Mavrick Ruh in the waning laps to win the 3rd annual Terry Van Roy Memorial grand national feature at Gravity Park USA in Chilton Friday.

The race, which went caution-free without a yellow, paid $1,409 to Richards.

Richards started on the pole position of the 25 lap contest. The second-generation driver stormed into the lead and within the first seven laps, found himself picking through lapped cars. Dustin White and Nick Schumacher stayed within striking distance of Richards, following him through the lapped cars while running 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

By the event’s halfway point, Ruh had sliced his way through the field up into the top five. Ruh opted for the high line throughout much of the contest, grabbing the runnerup spot on lap 11. Ruh even pulled door-to-door alongside of Richards no less than three times, only to have Richards pull Ruh off of the corners.

On the final circuit, Ruh pulled even with Richards along the backstretch, only to have Richards hug the bottom groove and seal the deal.

Ruh settled for runnerup money, followed by Jeff Muehlbauer, Weiss and Richard’s brother Kenny Richards.

9th place finisher Jack Wiroll and 14th place finisher Darryl Traber each won $150 gift certificates for sponsorship decks through joeverdegan.com.

Other feature winners on the night included Rubicon’s Mark Hoeppner (stock car), Sheboygan’s Brian Konitzer (sport mod), Chilton’s Jesse Cullen (A mod), Rudolph’s Kyle Gennett (street stock), Little Chute’s Skyler Bork (4 cylinder) and Beaver Dam’s Hayden Schmuhl (Legends).

Weekly racing resumes next Friday, June 27 at 7 p.m. Check the Gravity Park USA Facebook page for information.
