REMAINING RELEVANT ON SOCIAL MEDIA by Joe Verdegan

As we’ve mentioned in prior monthly motorsports marketing tips social media in its various forms is here to stay – for better or for worse.

Since most social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat) cater to an audience with typically shorter attention spans, racers need to remember to remain succinct, brief and engaging when posting on either of the above-mentioned platforms.

Long messages can easily get overlooked and leaving viewers with a feeling that you are invading their personal time. That’s why short and simple messages are the best.

Sponsor shoutouts are always good obviously as are race day tweets and posts from the track. Some teams incorporate short video clips promoting where they are racing. When doing those shoutouts however always be aware of what exactly your sponsor’s message is they want to convey.

The quality of your posts and tweets will always build your following much quicker than the quantity, so be careful not to overdo it and hammer folks with too many posts in a day.

Content is the currency of social media. It’s what we show and share. Followers are much more likely to share action-type posts other than a simple selfie so keep that in mind when you are posting from your respective racing page.
