POINTS BATTLES HEAT UP FOR EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT AUG. 23

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) – With champions ready to be crowned at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday August 23 several tight points races remain in a number of the track’s weekly divisions.

Twin Lakes, Michigan’s Jesse Aho holds a comfortable 42-point lead over Eagle River’s Tad Schoonover in the Chef Rene’s B mods and simply must take the green flag for the A main to secure the title.

Halsey Fab/Dan’s Service 300 micros Twin Lakes, Michigan’s Cooper Aho, who is Jesse Aho’s son, holds a slim two-point edge over Boulder Junction’s Katherine Towne 337 to 335.

It’s another tight race in the JD Paintball and Archery 600 micros where hometown racer Michael Hicks holds a three-point margin over Minocqua’s Andy Fink. Fink has already purchased a Chef Rene B Mod and plans on moving up that division in 2023.

Hometown driver Jason Zdroik has a six-point advantage over Pittsville’s Eric Pember in the Sweetwater late models while Ontonagon, Michigan’s Emerson Manos has a commanding 47 point led over Eagle River’s Joe Leveille in the Eagle River Dock and Lift street stocks and has already clinched the division title.

Hometown driver David Blackberg is poised to repeat as champion in the Coffen Construction stock cars. Heading into the final points night Blackberg’s advantage over Eagle River’s Ryan Glembin is 19  points.

Rhinelander’s Jason Melton has clinched the track’s pure stock title.

This coming Tuesday night will be the Jim Deditz Memorial race and a fundraiser for Special Olympics. Deditz was a long-time supporter of the track since it opened in 1975 who passed away earlier this year. Jim’s nephew Lou Deditz is the starter each night in the flagstand at ERS.
