PARSONS EARNS FIRST IMCA MOD FEATURE FLAG AT OUTAGAMIE

Green Bay’s Hunter Parsons scored the IMCA modified feature win at Outagamie Seymour Friday night – his first of the ’22 campaign.

29 racers checked to do battle at Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC. There were 28 IMCA Modifieds, 35 IMCA Stock Cars, 18 IMCA Sport Mods, 24 IMCA Sport Compacts and 24 Unified Street Stocks.

Action was red flagged on two separate occasions during the IMCA Sport Compact Heats as Bailey Akstulewicz and Don Walander both rolled over. Both drivers were ok but their cars weren’t able to continue.

Heartbreak in the IMCA Modifieds as Jordan Bartz looked well on her way to victory lane until her racer began to run rough on lap 15. Bartz slowed and rolled to the infield, ending a bid for her first win of the season. Hunter Parson who was able to secure the runner up position inherited the top spot. Parsons held off a hard charging JJ Andersen to score his first win of the year. Andersen had to settle for second, Jason Ebert placed third, point leader Jayden Schmidt was fourth and Benji LaCrosse completed the top five. With a 52-point lead, Schmidt will earn his first Modified title.

$700 awaited the winner in the IMCA Sport Mods and it was Jordan Jahnke jumping to the lead early on until point leader Ryan Schmidt raced from row 8 and to the lead on lap 3. Schmidt never looked back, scoring the payday with his third win of the season. Cory Kemkes stayed in the title fight with second place finish, Janke took third, Matthew Radtke took fourth and Chris Kuchta rounded out the top five. Schmidt holds a 7-point lead over Kemkes heading into the final night.

In IMCA Stock Car action it was Eric Mahlik leaving no doubt who had the fastest car. Mahlik took the lead on lap 2 and dominated the remainder of the event for his first win of the season. Title contender Brett Wenzel placed a solid second, Jonathon Young crossed the stripe to place third but his car didn’t pass post-race technical inspection. Eric Arneson was then credited with third, Chase Parker finished fourth and point leader Kyle Frederick was fifth. Frederick leads Wenzel by 10 points.

Paul Diefenthaler was dominant in the Unified Street Stocks with his 4th feature win in a row. Diefenthaler was trailed to the checkers by Presely Harrington, Jason White, Jared Spaulding and Beau Schroder. James Fletcher has a 6-point advantage over Schroder. Brooke Diefenthaler is 8 markers behind the leader.

IMCA Sport Compact point leader Thomas Schulte came into the night with a 22-point lead but a crash on the opening lap allowed David Cox to close within 9 points. Bailey Tate held off a hard charging Jeremy Czarapata to score his first win of the season. Czarapata was second, rookie Kegan Van Ooyen placed third, Ben Schulte moved up 17 spots to take fourth and Cox was fifth.
