NAVIGATING SOCIAL MEDIA TO YOUR BENEFIT by Joe Verdegan

(OCTOBER, 2024 MONTHLY MOTORSPORTS MARKETING MAIL TIP)

Whether we like it or not, social media is most definitely here to stay.

That can be a pro or a con when it comes to your motorsports marketing efforts. If you play your cards right, the pros will ALWAYS outweigh the cons when it comes to your motorsports marketing program and using social media as an effective tool.

One of the huge benefits of using platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Snapchat or X (formerly known as Twitter) is that these options provide excellent opportunities for direct communication with the masses, literally at your fingertips. While the racing legitimizes you as a competitor, the publicity you receive creates the true value for brands that pay to attach themselves to your team and market through your interaction with followers.

The number of ‘likes’ and viewers and followers you are able to obtain is huge. These options were simply not available two decades ago as nowadays you can reach more people online via social media less expensively than the network television when it was one of the few options available.

Like it or not, sponsors are going to ask how many followers or ‘likes’ you racing page has. Because those kind of things matter to them. If you’re not using social media effectively in this day and age to promote your racing program you are really behind the eight ball in the big picture.

We do assist race teams with putting together sponsorship decks which are a critical tool in the great money hunt. Simply drop me an email at jverdegan2@gmail.com and let’s get those conversations started.
