NORWAY SPEEDWAY – MOST AFFORDABLE FAMILY FUN
Posted on: Wednesday May 25, 2022
When it comes to getting the biggest ‘bang’ for your buck as a race fan it doesn’t get much better than Norway Speedway.
The third-mile, paved oval is located at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds in Norway, Michigan near the Wisconsin/Michigan border. Norway Speedway is one of the few racetracks in the Midwest that allows fans to carry in their own food and drink (no bottles) during most race nights of the 2022 season.
With carry ins being allowed Norway Speedway remains one of the most affordable options for family entertainment in the U.P. While concessions are available at the track you can combat rising fuel costs and inflation by loading up your cooler with food and drinks and bring the entire family out for a night of entertainment.
On Friday nights all summer long, the Norway Speedway fans are a diverse mix of locals and vacationers, many who have cabins in Upper Michigan and Northern Wisconsin. In addition, Norway Speedway boasts an old school, wooden grandstand – one of the only ones remaining in the Midwest.
Norway Speedway will kick off another year of Friday night racing May 27 with qualifying at 5:30 p.m. and the first green flag of the year flying at 7 p.m. The track boasts several classes weekly including Coca Cola late models, Auto Value super stocks, 141 Auto stock cars and MC Signs & Graphics Fab 4s.
Ken’s Sports sport trucks also make a handful of appearances on Friday nights. Among some of the highlights of the 2022 schedule will be the annual Stateline Challenge/Kent Pearson Memorial race July 1 with an appearance by NASCAR truck champ Johnny Sauter. The TUNDRA Super Late Model series makes a return to Norway for a Saturday, July 16 special and the popular Hall of Fame night is set for June 24.
