MUELLER NABS OUTAGAMIE DIRT KINGS CROWN (submitted by Joe Orsini)

(SEYMOUR, WI) Aug. 15 – 148 cars checked in on Friday night to battle for the top spot in six divisions of racing action.  With temperatures climbing the points battles also heated up as this marked the second to last points night at the Speedway.

The WABAM Dirt Kings Touring Late Model Series saw Brad “JJ” Mueller grab the early lead.  While Mueller hugged the infield tires on the low side “Mighty” Mike Mullen was busy throwing roostertails against the outside retaining wall as he danced around the highside trying to snatch away the top spot at his hometown track.  As the race wore on Mullen faded as the cushion went away on the top, this allowed Nick Anvelink to squeeze by to second and Brett Sedberg followed suit on the low line to move to third.  When the checkers flew it was Mueller outlasting the field to be crowned king, Anvelink was second, Swedberg third, Mullen fourth, and Justin Ritchie closed out the top five.  For a full race recap and all the latest Dirt King news check their website https://dirtkingstour.com/

The Professional Plating Inc. IMCA Modified A Main kicked off with Kevin Feck grabbing the top spot at the drop of the green.  Marcus Yarie wasted no time sliding into the runner up spot and then pressured Feck for the lead, that pressure turned into a pass on lap three.  While the battle at the front raged on Jayden Schmidt quietly piloted his number 24 machine into the third spot and set his sights on Feck running second.  Konnor Wilinski, however, had other thoughts and moved past both Schmidt and Feck into second just before caution flew at the halfway mark of the event.  Trouble was brewing on Feck’s machine as mechanical issues forced him to retire under the yellow while running third.

Wilinski utilized the restart to lead lap 11 but Yarie crossed over underneath Wilinski in turns one and two to recapture the lead on lap 12.  While that pair traded the top spot like kids swapping baseball cards, point leader Johnny “The Hitman” Whitman had worked his way to third.  A late race caution slowed the pace and Wilinski saw a hole open on the restart and launched into the lead.  Whitman followed suit and moved into second and quickly applied pressure to Wilinski.

With Wilinski protecting the bottom groove Whitman had no choice but to dare the high side and took his shot on lap 19 as he used momentum to hustle past Wilinski through the higher line.  When the dust cleared at the checkers it was Whitman padding his points lead heading into championship night.  Dan Roedl used a last lap pass to secure second, Schmidt was third, “Reckless” Rob Charapata fourth, and Wilinski dropped to fifth in the closing lap.

The Monroe Truck Equipment\K&E Sales and Service IMCA Stock Car A main event saw Kyle Stedjee pace the opening laps until Devin Snellenberger wrestled away the top spot on lap four.  While Snellenberger led, Presley Harrington ran up to second and Clint Forstner moved up to third.  Brett Wenzel, the current point leader, quickly slid into third on lap 8 and the following lap locked up the runner up spot.  At the halfway mark Snellenberger continued to lead Wenzel while Forstner was third, Harrington fourth, and Dan Sell Jr. was fifth.

The closing laps saw second place points runner, Hot Rod Snellenberger, move up to fourth and it looked as if he would stay within striking distance of Wenzel heading into championship night but it was determined it was his car that lost the wheel that brought out the yellow on the final lap.  His final finishing position ended up being 14th.  Devin Snellenberger was the winner, Wenzel wound up second, Forstner third, Trey Van Straten fourth, and Sell rounded out the top five.

The Trailer Express IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature event kicked off with Michael and AJ Springborn battling for the top spot at the drop of the green, Tanner Pari secured third but then promptly lost the spot when he spun on his own on lap five to draw the caution.  The ensuing restart saw Michael Springborn lead AJ Springborn, Braxton Ambrosius, Dylan Scmidt, and Carter Besaw back to racing speeds.  Besaw took full advantage of the restart and moved up to third. His march to the front continued and he locked away the top spot on lap eight.  It was smooth sailing from there as Besaw grabbed the feature win, Dylan Schmidt was second, AJ Springborn third, Ryan Schmidt added to his point lead with a fourth place finish, and “Big Red” JJ Vanderloop was fifth.

The Vettings Customs Rigs and Rides Unified Dirt Street Stock A Main event had Paul Ambrosius shoot to the opening lap lead from his outside second row starting spot.  While Ambrosius looked to check out trouble struck on lap six when a red flag stopped the event as Malachi Bierman took a hard hit into the outside retaining wall in turn one.  While the field was stopped fluid started leaking from Ambrosius’ car and when the red changed to yellow he had to retire from the event to prevent further mechanical mayhem.  With Ambrosius in the pits Cory Lemirande inherited the lead.  Point leader Trey Van Straten used the restart to move to third.

With laps winding down Van Straten sliced his way to second and on lap 17 found the opening he needed to snatch the lead away from Lemirande.  Van Straten notched his eight win of the season while Lemirande held on for second, Derek Schrauth was third, Dan Gracyalny fourth, and Paul Diefenthaler completed the top five.

The Midwest Equipment Dock and Lift Service IMCA Sport Compact feature saw Tyler Konrad lead the opening lap while the field shuffled positions behind him.  Tucker Pari managed to sneak into the top spot and held the point until lap 13 when Jesse Schulte worked around the outside and into the lead.  Schulte hung on to capture his second consecutive feature win, Pari settled for second, TJ Everard third, Cody Booth was fourth and kept the points lead headed into championship night and his dreams of a third consecutive division title remained very much alive, and Chase Thompson was fifth.

Outagamie Speedway powered by Klink Equipment & Elite Coatings is back in action next Friday night, August 22nd, as we will crown our 2025 points champions with the final points night of the season.
