The exceptionally wet weather continued to hamper stock car racing programs across the region this past weekend.

Shows on both Friday and Saturday nights were washed out and you’d be hard pressed to find a racing program that was able to run most anywhere in Wisconsin this past weekend. It was so bad that my friend and avid race chaser Bob Schafer had to travel to New Paris, Indiana from Oshkosh, Wisconsin to catch a racing program.

Among the area tracks that bit the dust due to Mother Nature over the weekend included, but were not limited to:

Outagamie Speedway (Seymour)

Gravity Park USA (Chilton

Luxy Raceway (Luxemburg)

Little Buckaroo Jr. Motorsports Park (Cecil)

Shawano Speedway (Shawano, 3rd week in a row)

The Hill Raceway (Sturgeon Bay)

141 Speedway (Francis Creek)

Plymouth Dirt Track (Plymouth)

There are some cases where promoters almost always get second guessed if and when the pulled the pin. However when you get several inches of rain it makes the decisions not to race a no brainer. Despite all that the keyboard warriors and trolls continue to ‘poke the bear’ in some instances.

Anyways here’s a breakdown of what’s ahead in the coming days in the region.

IRA Outlaw Sprint Cars will invade Outagamie Speedway June 28 during the Outagamie County Fair in Seymour. (seeking photo credit)

IRA AT SEYMOUR – The high-powered, winged IRA outlaw sprint cars will invade Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday, June 28 as part of the Outagamie County Fair in Seymour. 141 SPEEDWAY DIAMOND 46 RESCHEDULED – The Diamond 46 Dirt Kings late model Tour show that was washed out at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 3. A massive fireworks extravaganza is scheduled after this Saturday’s show June 29 which is set to commence at 6 p.m.

THE HILL – The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay is off this weekend but will return July 6 with the Busch Light sportmod shootout. The action on July 6, presented by Kroll Machine and Fabrication, is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m.

EAGLE RIVER IMCA STOCKERS – A $1,000 top prize is up for grabs in the IMCA stock car division at Eagle River Speedway in Eagle River Tuesday, June 25. The track’s regular divisions will also be in action including the ERS late models, B mods, street stocks, 300 and 600 micro sprints. Action gets underway at 7 p.m.

LUXY HOF – Three new inductees will be ushered into the 2024 Hall of Fame at Luxy Raceway in at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds in Luxemburg Friday, June 28. The new inductees include a trio of retired racers and former track champions – Green Bay’s Eddie Muenster, Kewaunee’s Eugene Gregorich and Greenleaf’s Jesse Colwell. Action gets underway at 7 p.m.

GRAVITY PARK LATE MODELS – Gravity Park USA in Chilton will host its second late model special event Friday, June 28 at the quarter-mile bullring. Action at the Chilton oval gets underway at 7 p.m.

Michael Hatch competes Friday nights at Little Buckaroo Jr. Motorsports Park.

KARTING KORNER – 5 Point Fabrication/Wisconsin Building are the title sponsors for the karting action at Little Buckaroo Jr. Motorsports Park in Cecil. Action at the eighth mile clay oval is set to begin at 7 p.m. Meanwhile on Wednesday, June 26 GSR Kartway will once again attempt to dodge the wrath of Mother Nature and host their karting and lawn mower racing program. Hot laps commence at 6 p.m. with the first green flag flying at 7 p.m. at the Clintonville oval.

PAVEMENT PONDERINGS – After his super late model feature win at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna last Thursday, Green Bay’s Chad Butz closed the gap to within two points of current division points leader “Mighty Maxwell” Schultz of Reedsville. Action resumes with the Fox River Racing Club’s ‘Thursday Night Thunder’ races June 7 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

After the Hub City 50 was rained out this past weekend at Marshfield Motor Speedway, The Midwest Truck Series will return to action on Sunday, July 7 at Slinger Super Speedway for the Prelude to the Nationals.

The next event for the ASA Midwest Tour for super late models will be the Wayne Carter Classic 100 at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Illinois on Saturday, July 13 while the TUNDRA super late model series next event is slated for July 6 for the North American Cup Dedicated to Carl Wegner at Dells Raceway Park.

An impressive 45 Pro late models showed up at Slinger Super Speedway Sunday night for the Uptown Motorcars series event. Oak Creek’s Ryan Gutknecht scored the win.  Among the area drivers who competed and made the show were Neenah’s Braison Bennett who placed 12th according to Race Monitor.

This tour swings into WIR on July 4. Is this series on to something? Stay tuned…………

Don’t forget to get out and support your local short track IN PERSON whenever possible. Nothing wrong with the various online streaming services available these days. But NOTHING can replace actually BEING THERE.
