MONDEIK FLIES TO NORWAY SPEEDWAY FEATURE FLAG

Pembine, Wisconsin’s Anthony Schiefelbein scored the super stock feature win at Norway (MI) Speedway August 20.

MONDEIK FLIES TO NORWAY FEATURE FLAG
(Norway, MI) August 20 – Gleason, Wisconsin’s Justin Mondeik passed Mike Lantange for the lead with six circuits remaining and went on to win the late model feature at Norway Speedway Friday.
Mondeik started 11th in the 17 car field and carefully picked his way through traffic. Veteran Bruce White jumped into the lead from the early going but surrendered the top spot to Lantagne by lap five.
The Vulcan racer had built up a comfortable cushion and was sifting his way through lapped cars when Chat Butz and Mondeik caught Lantagne when he got bottled up with lapped traffic with eight laps remaining.
A caution flew with six laps to go and Mondeik secured the top spot and stayed there for the balance of the contest. The division point leader Butz took second, followed by Lantagne, Gregg Haese and Scott Stanchina.
Pembine, Wisconsin’s Anthony Schiefelbein sweated out multiple caution periods and went on to win the super stock feature.
Hermansville’s Dean Bellmore and Kingsford’s Jon Maenpaa motored to victory in the caution free features in the 4 banger and stock car classes, respectively.
Brent Barglind emerged triumphant in the sport truck main. The race was red flagged with two laps remaining when race leader Cody Vander Loop slammed into the lapped truck of Bode Johnson. Johnson was examined by paramedics and was fine but his truck sustained damage.
Racing resumes next Friday, August 27 as Systems Control sponsors the evening’s entertainment. The action gets underway at 7 p.m.
