(FRANCIS CREEK, WI) JULY 17 – Mike Mullen earned his 3rd career Appleton Camping Center IMCA Stockcar King of the Creek win at 141 Speedway Thursday Night. The win netted him a cool $10,000 pay day.
Mullen earned the pole of the IMCA Stockcar Big Dance by virtue of his A Main win two evenings before in which he charged from 10th to first.  Mullen used dominant starts throughout the event to gain an advantage over Benji LaCrosse and crew.  LaCrosse settled into the second spot and over the first 30 laps was able to eat at Mullen’s early lead which he had built up.
Mullen was dominating as he entered lapped traffic, but a lapped car of Marcus Yarie ended up spinning after contact with the leader.  Mullen was able to once again work the restarts like his dad Brian Mullen had taught him and grabbed a comfortable lead.  LaCrosse would try numerous lines but Mullen fended him off.
Mullen was able to take control after one last restart with four laps remaining.  Mullen captured his third King of the Creek win.  He joins the second place finisher Benji LaCrosse as the other 3-time winner. Trent Nolan finished third after battles mid-race with Rod Snellenberger who finished fourth.  Last year’s winner Luke Lemmens rounded out the top five.

Casco’s Coy Vlies captured the IMCA northern sportmod feature win at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek July 17.

Coy Vlies put everyone on alert to let them know he is still one of the favorites to win next month’s Captain of the Creek Big Dance for the IMCA Sportmods. The former winner put on a clinic on how to get around the 1/3 mile clay oval at 141 Speedway.
Vlies got to the front from his third starting spot after grabbing it from Tim Warner who lead early.  Last year’s Captain of the Creek winner Matt Avila would get to second but not after Vlies had all but checked out like he was at a grocery store.  Avila would be able to figure out the speedway and track down Vlies slowly.
Vlies would have to wiggle through some tight spots in lapped traffic but was able to keep a comfortable lead over Avila.  Vlies picked up the win in front of Avila.  Brady Harshberger won the race long duel with Cole Thomas for the third spot.  Colton See completed the top five.
Philip Wuesthoff made his trip from Beaver Dam a successful one after 20 laps of Street Stock Feature action.  Wuesthoff started on the outside pole and flew to the lead right away.  Kyle Genett shot from 8th to 2nd in a couple of laps and set Wuesthoff in the crosshairs.  Genett was able to move inside the leader through the first ten laps but could never gain the advantage.  Wuesthoff would slowly pull away over the final ten laps to secure the win.  Gennett settled from second place pay.  Paul Diefenthaler drover from 7th to 3rd. Brady Ascherien and Brooke Diefenthaler also secured top five finishes.
Jerry Wilinski picked up the $1,000 pay day after dominating the non-qualifier feature.
