MCFADDEN ENDS 30-YEAR DROUGHT – SNAGS EAGLE RIVER USRA $1,200 PAYDAY
(EAGLE RIVER, WI) August 2, 2025 – Jim Falls’ Jason McFadden ended a three-decade drought, leading every lap and surviving late race pressure from Jason Zdroik and Lucas Peterson to win the $1,200 USRA late model feature at Eagle River Speedway Saturday.
The veteran racer got a good jump into the lead at the drop of the green of the 25 lap contest. Zdroik, who started outside of McFadden, maintained the second spot with current USRA national points leader Peterson running third.
The trio ran nose-to-tail for several laps, with the three running into lapped traffic with five laps remaining. McFadden kept his racer glued to the bottom groove, while Zdroik rolled the dice, and slid up to the high groove with lapped cars on the horizon.
Zdroik’s gamble came up just short as Peterson was able to play his cards right, and nipped Zdroik at the checkers for the runnerup spot. The defending track champion settled for third place money at the pay window.
Zack and Travis Friske placed fourth and fifth, respectively at the checkers.
Pewaukee’s Jacob Zimmerman went wire-to-wire and survived a lone caution period to capture the 600 micro sprint feature. Watertown’s Caden Toliver, Cornell, Michigan’s Ethan Manninen, Boulder Junction’s Mya Towne and Rhinelander’s Blake Joslin finished 2nd through 5th, respectively.
Both of the 300 Pro and Semi-Pro features went flag-to-flag without a caution. Escanaba, Michigan’s Tanner Rae won the Pro main while Beaver Dam’s Kaides Coombs won the Semi-Pro main,
Vintage features were won by Ringle’s Jeremy Allard and Merrill’s Brian Witberler.
The Badger Midgets made their first appearance at the speedway in several decades, and a separate presser covering their racing action will follow.
This coming Tuesday August 5 a number of “bounty hunters” will converge on to the speedway as they try to win a $1,000 bounty that’s been placed on IMCA stock car driver Rod Snellenberger of Pulaski. The former track champion has been a perfect six-for-six when he’s raced here. The extra loot is expected to draw some heavy hitters up from the south. The street stocks will also scrap for some extra cash. The hammer drops at 7 p.m.
