When a racer has a meeting with potential sponsor, and things may look like they are headed in the right direction, it’s a good idea to keep quiet about this potential partnership until the deal is officially signed, sealed and delivered.
As tempting as it may be to “spill the beans” per se about a potential windfall for your racing program, the deal could quickly go sour if the decision makers find out you’ve been chirping about this potential “deal” before the details have been hammered out on both sides.
It’s also a good idea to exercise some patience along the way. If it’s a partnership with a bigger company, it may take several days or weeks for the company’s attorney to draft up a proposal. So – until the deal is on ink and a signature is required, MUM is the word!
I can’t stress this enough. If you’re NOT well-versed in things like spelling and grammar, find someone who is. That person or persons can assist you in putting together a colorful, eye-catching sponsorship deck.
