JOEVERDEGAN.COM CELEBRATES ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Since joeverdegan.com was launched on September 15, 2020 more than 329 stories, driver interviews and racing-related pressers were crafted and viewed by more than 153,000 different folks all across the world.
The long time Gannett media motorsports columnist quit penning newspaper columns after 25 years and started his own site in 2020. The site has been updated weekly since it’s inception 365 days ago.
The site, which features Midwestern stock car racing history and current news, was crafted by IMCA northern sportmod racer Chris Budzban of Budzo Designs.
Among the more popular segments on the website are ‘The Scoop’ which often feature driver profiles and current racing topics. The audio podcasts ‘On The Record’ are another popular feature in which audio interviews are conducted with retired racers, track officials and other newsmakers in the short track industry.
‘The Vault’ is a segment that covers anything and everything from racing columns from the past and excerpts from the different books Verdegan has written over the past six years.
With the exception of pressers penned from a handful of the tracks that advertise with us most of the content at joeverdegan.com is original material.
The most popular story read to date was a segment featuring long time Milwaukee-area car owner Jerry Gunderman, which drew nearly 3,600 viewers.
Jerry Gunderman and Scott Hansen remain great friends to this day.
On the audio end of the things the most popular driver to emerge from Navarino, Wisconsin, Terry Anvelink, drew the most listened to podcast in the ‘On The Record’ segment with nearly 3,000 people.

Anvelink is one of the three main subjects featured in Verdegan’s next book “5-10-32 McBride, Parker & Anvelink” which is set to be released in December, 2021. Shawano racing legend M.J. McBride and national dirt late model Hall of Famer Pete Parker are also featured in the new book.
