HEINZ HUSTLES TO 86TH CAREER IMCA STOCK WIN – WEEKEND WRAPUP, UPDATED FEATURE TOTALS
Posted on: Monday July 25, 2022
Green Bay’s John Heinz showed that he’s still “got it” when he collected his 86th career IMCA stock car feature win at The ‘Burg Speedway in Luxemburg, Wisconsin Sunday, July 24.
Heinz currently ranks fifth among Wisconsin’s all time sanctioned stock car winners, sandwiched in between Horicon’s Jeremy Christians and Forestville’s “Chargin’ Charlie Kroll.
ALL TIME WISCONSIN STOCK CAR FEATURE WINNERS
Rod Snellenberger, Pulaski, 220
Brandon Czarapata, Pulaski, 132
Travis VanStraten, Horicon, 126
Jeremy Christians, Horicon, 103
John Heinz, Green Bay, 86
Charlie Kroll, Forestville, 80
After winning a total of $17,800 in prize money last week many have asked where Luxemburg native Benji LaCrosse ranks on the all time Wisconsin stock car winners list. After this past week LaCrosse ranks 13th overall with 41 total career sanctioned stock car victories.
IMCA DIVERSITY – With his IMCA sanctioned stock car feature win at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday night, Sobieski’s Tyler Wilson can lay claim to having won features in four sanctioned divisions in northeastern Wisconsin. As a teen Wilson raced in the hobby stock class at Luxemburg and Sturgeon Bay (the class hasn’t raced locally for several years) where he scored feature wins.
Wilson won wheeling a sportmod and has scored sanctioned wins in both the modified and now adding the stock car class to his resume. Wilson is driving a John Heinz owned stock car.
PAVEMENT PONDERINGS – A shout out is in order for Minnesotan Jonathan Eilen. Eilen came up victorious in his 148th career ARCA Midwest Tour start during the Larry Detjens Memorial at State Park Speedway in Wausau Sunday.
The event was rescheduled after rain washed out the program Saturday. Eilen started running the tour when yours truly was handling the chores behind the mic with that tour when it was still known as the “ASA Midwest Tour” in 2007. Congrats to the Eilen team.
TUNDRA @ MARSHFIELD – The rescheduled Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial will take place this coming Saturday at Marshfield Motor Speedway with the TUNDRA super late model series. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying set for 5:45 p.m. and the first green flag to fly at 7 p.m.
SPEAKING OF MARSHFIELD – Gleason’s Justin Mondeik is among the latest drivers to file an entry for the Whelen National Crate Asphalt Late Model (NCAL) series event at the paved half-mile August 27 presented by Ken’s Sports. According to a flyer promoting the event the event will feature Twin 55 lap features and will showcase “crate late models” from Slinger, Dells, WIR, Norway, State Park, Golden Sands and Marshfield.
WIR NOTEBOOK – Matt Kenseth’s return to WIR Tuesday August 2 in Kaukauna for the Gandrud Auto Group 250 will be the first competitive laps he’s turned at the D-shaped, half-mile paved oval in more than 15 years. The $15,000-to-win race will be run under the Midwest Tour banner. Gates open at 4 p.m. with the first race scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
