GEYER WINS IN ‘DA YOOP’ – REGIONAL DIRT FEATURE TOTALS & A LOOK AHEAD
Posted on: Sunday September 17, 2023
Second generation racer Garrett Geyer made the trip across the border payoff this weekend.
The Brussels racer scored the Unified Dirt Street Stock feature win at Escanaba (Michigan) Speedway during the annual “Yooper Fall Classic” at the Upper Peninsula state fairgrounds. Trailing Geyer at the checkers was another second-generation racer from Luxemburg Shannon Guelette. Escanaba’s Neil Aaberg was the top finishing Michigan driver in the street stocks with a third-place finish.
102 drivers in nine different divisions took part in the two-day race.
Geyer wasn’t the only second-generation racer to win this past weekend. At Gravity Park USA in Chilton Pulaski’s Aaron Karcz, wheeling his home-built stock car, scored the division win. The victory was Karcz’s first of the 2023 campaign. Greenville’s T.J. Smith continued his dominance in the grand national division – where he picked up his 8th career feature win in the division on the season.
ANVELINK REMAINS HOT – Second generation racer Nick Anvelink of Navarino remains hot heading into the tail end of 2023. Anvelink picked up late model wins both Friday and Saturday night, winning the Legendary 100 at Cedar Lake Speedway in Somerset. Anvelink, who netted a $3,000 payday for his efforts, picked up win number eight on the season.
141 IRA RAIN – Rain washed out the IRA Outlaw sprint car series event at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek this past weekend. The tentative raindate has been set for Friday, September 29.
ZEHR CONQUERS TUNDRA – Dalton Zehr finished his season racing in the TUNDRA super late model series with an exclamation point. Zehr scored a clean sweep with quick time and victories in both 50 lap features at the Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial race at Marshfield Motor Speedway Saturday.
With that win, Zehr, with his teammate John Beale and Gildan Racing, were crowned the 2023 TUNDRA series champions.
