EARNING A NICKNAME

It was common at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wisconsin in the 1970’s into the 1990’s for drivers to earn a nickname from track announcer Roger Mueller.

Whether it was John “Ripple” Born, Wayne “Wiener” Goetsch or “The Flying Painter” Dick Berth, earning a nickname was almost a right of passage during the heyday of Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Association (EWSCA).
