BENNETT STAYS HOT, BOONE, OUTAGAMIE FALL BRAWL, & REGIONAL DIRT FEATURE TOTALS

It’s that time of year again – where more than 100, IMCA-sanctioned race teams in four different classes make thier annual pilgrimage down to Boone (IA) Speedway for the annual IMCA Supernationals.
They say it’s a bucket list gig, and boy, is it ever. I went back in the mid-00’s for the entire week. It’s something that every race fan must experience at least once.
Boone isn’t about a big payday. It’s a party. It’s dirt track racing 24/7. It’s being around until 1 or 2 a.m., waiting to run your last race of the night. I’ll be 58 next month, and unless I’m announcing a race anytime around 10 p.m., you can find me dozing off in my recliner most of the time.
Some drivers haven’t raced at their local tracks for weeks, gearing up and saving money and equipment, gearing it up for the big one (which is Boone).
Props to IMCA for building this up into a true event. One question I do have though, is how on earth do so many of these younger racers, who obviously could not have many years working full time, can afford to take all of this vacation time off to spend a week at the races? It’s a genuine question I must ask.
But, with drivers saving their stuff for Boone, do the weekly racing programs suffer a bit in the months of July or August? At any rate, the Supernationals is truly a bucket list event for any real race fan. I look forward to tracking how the Wisconsin drivers fare down in Iowa this week. Good luck to all.
Congrats go out to Joel Bennett. The second-generation driver Hortonville recently picked up a WISSOTA Challenge Series win at Hibbing (MN) Speedway. Bennett is having one solid season. He’s picked up a total of seven dirt late model feature wins, tying Bonduel’s Nick Anvelink. We look forward to seeing how he does with the post-season specials. Nice work.
We’ll be on the call this month at Outagamie Speedway for the annual Fall Brawl September 11-12, and also at 141 Speedway afor the three-day, Treek Classic September 24-26. Get out and support these tracks while you can, before the snow flies.
The local karting scene remains active in these coming weeks, too. Little Buckaroo Jr. Motorsports Park in Cecil will host a Justin Arneson Homeselling Team day at the races Sunday, September 13. It will also be Halloween @ the track. The action at the karting oval gets underway at 2 p.m.
At GSR Kartway in Clintonville, a pair of Friday night venues are on tap – Friday, September 11 and Friday, September 18 are both points nights of racing at the karting and lawn mower oval. Action gets underway at 7 p.m.
Get out and support your local short track IN PERSON yet while we still can in 2026! NOTHING beats BEING THERE!
