Race fans braved near freezing temperatures to catch the racing action this past weekend.

But for those who weren’t truly ‘diehards’ you could watch from the comfort of your couch with the multiple streaming services available. An incredible amount of 186 cars in six divisions turned up for night No. 2 at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.

The efficient show got wrapped up in under four hours and after the final checkers flew Benji LaCrosse notched career IMCA modified feature win number 140. Whether it’s a modified or a stock car or a wet or a dry track surface, rest assured LaCrosse can get the job done.

Defending Dirt Kings Tour champion Nick Anvelink of Bonduel dodged a caution filled event to score the Dirk Kings feature win at Beaver Dam Raceway Saturday night. 23 Dirt Kings late models were in attendance. Shawano Speedway had canceled earlier that morning.

The Dirt Kings were part of a powerful triple crown bill which featured the IRA Outlaw sprints and the Badger Midgets. Former Badger Mod Tour regular Matt Rechek of Beaver Dam picked up the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association (BMARA) win at his home track. 30 IRA sprint cars were in attendance with Fargo, North Dakota’s Tim Estenson taking home the Lion’s Share of the purse with his victory.

Roughly 30 or so cars attended the practice session. The 2024 season at Luxemburg will kick off this Friday night April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.

SCHRADER TO SHAWANO – Shawano Speedway announced over the weekend that NASCAR and open wheel racing legend Ken Schrader of Fenton, MO will race his IMCA modified at the half-mile, clay oval during the track’s Hall of Fame night Saturday, June 8. Green Bay native and 1996 IMCA modified champion Verlyn Giguere and two time sportsman champion T.M. Miller of Bear Creek are the two 2024 inductees.

PLYMOUTH OPENS – The season opening race for Plymouth Dirt Track is set for Saturday, April 27 at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds. MSA 360 sprint cars, grand nationals, B modifieds and Wisconsin WingLESS sprints will be in action at the third-mile, clay oval. Opening ceremonies begin at 5 p.m.

MAJESKI WINS SLINGER – NASCAR truck series regular Ty Majeski picked up the season opening win at Slinger Super Speedway during the Miracle On The High Banks super late model race Sunday. The event also kicked off the season for the Midwest Tour. Max Kahler of Caledonia, Illinois and Wausau’s Luke Fenhaus rounded out the podium finishes with second and third, respectively.
