ATTENTION SPORTS/MOTORSPORTS – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AHO WINS CAUTION FREE EAGLE RIVER B MOD GO
(EAGLE RIVER, WI) May 30 – Former track champion Jesse Aho of Twin Lakes, Michigan took the lead and the drop of the green and never surrendered the top spot and went on to win the opening night B mod feature at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday.
The race went caution free without a yellow.
One of Aho’s biggest obstacles was weaving through lapped cars. Aho got bottled up a few times which allowed second and third place finishers Bruce Belland and defending track champion Marcus Dunbar to close the gap a few times. Division rookie Dave Dishaw of Ontanogon, Michigan placed fourth while Irma’s Travis Friske took fifth.
Hometown driver Jason Zdroik sweated out a handful of caution periods to capture the late model feature. Marinesco, Michigan veteran Duane Dunbar placed second on his ’21 debut in the division.
Defending stock car champion Rod Snellenberger of Pulaski squeezed past hometown driver Ryan Glembin to snatch the lead and collect the opening night victory. Dishaw, one of several drivers who pulled double duty, scored the Unified street stock feature win.
Phillips Roger Walker emerged triumphant in the pure stock feature while Sugar Camp rookie Russell Klein swept the 600 micro division.
The 300 micro sprint features were won by Twin Lake, Michigan’s Cooper Aho and Tomahawk’s Kaeden Bethel.
A capacity crowd was in attendance at the D-shaped, third-mile clay oval despite bone-chilling temperatures.
Racing will resume Tuesday, June 8 for “School’s Out” night. NASCAR Xfinity Series racer and Eagle River native Natalie Decker will be at the track to sign autographs. The first green flag is set to fly at 730 p.m. Fans are encouraged to please check the track’s website Facebook page or you can email patzdroik@yahoo.com or call (715) 891 1870.
