DIEFENTHALER WINS OUTAGAMIE STREET STOCK BATTLE, WAR

DIEFENTHALER WINS STREET STOCK BATTLE, WAR AT OUTAGAMIE SPEEDWAY
(SEYMOUR, WI) August 28 – Two Rivers’ Paul Diefenthaler won both the battle and the war in street stock action at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday.
The veteran wheelman won both the division’s feature, and track championship on the third-mile, clay oval. The victory was Diefenthaler’s 103rd of his career in the street stock class.
Diefenthaler bided his time at the drop of the green of the 20-lap contest, carefully keeping his nose out of traffic, as Slinger’s Roman Blank kept the lead through a pair of cautions in the early going.
Diefenthaler had slipped his way up into 2nd on a lap eight restart, and motored around Blank to take the top spot on circuit later.
Diefenthaler was pressured by Blank and Hortonville’s Trey Van Straten on a restart with four laps remaining and cruised to victory. Blank settled for second place, followed by Van Straten, Paul’s daughter Brooke Diefenthaler and Travis Zirbel.
Hometown driver Mike Mullen grabbed the lead as the white flag was unfurled, and cruised to an IMCA modified feature win.
Mullen, who started seventh on the grid, hovered around the top five for the first half of the contest. Rookie Austin Jansen appeared in good shape and possibly headed for a victory. Skyler Woods and Wyatt Block applied the pressure, and a three-car battle ensued. No less then two circuits later, Mullen blasted into fourth, and the quartet began scrapping for the top spot.
With five laps remaining, Mullen and Block went toe-to-toe for the lead. The duo pulled away from the pack, with Mullen scoring a last lap pass for the win. Block settled for second place, followed by Woods, Jansen and Konnor Wilinski. By taking the green flag, hometown driver Jayden Schmidt captured the division’s track championship.
Former IMCA national stock car champion Travis Van Straten of Hortonville grabbed the lead on lap two, and kept the top spot through a bevy of caution periods to collect the IMCA stock car feature win.
Van Straten had his hands full throughout the race, fending off still challenges from Trent Nolan and Kyle Frederick along the way. Frederick and Nolan finished second and third at the checkers, respectively. Chase Parker and Tyler Schrimpf took fourth and fifth place, respectively.
By virtue of his eighth place finish, Manitowoc’s Brett Wenzel captured the division’s track title.
Oconto Falls’ Owen Wilcox passed Tim Jorgenson for the lead on lap 11 and powered his way to victory in the IMCA sportmod feature. Finishing second through fifth were Tyler DeMars, Carsin Cullen, Coy Vlies and Kayden Besaw. Besaw’s fifth place finish was enough to earn him the division’s track championship.
Green Bay’s Brett Deprez won the IMCA sport compact crown at Outagamie Speedway Aug. 28.
Oshkosh’s Cody Booth won the IMCA sport compact feature, with second place finisher Brett Deprez of Green Bay securing the division’s track title.
The final racing weekend at Outagamie Speedway in 2026 will be the annual Fall Brawl September 11-12. Two complete shows will be run both nights. The Dirt Kings late model tour will swing into town Friday night with a 5:30 p.m. start time. Joining the DK late models will be all of the track’s regular, weekly divisions. There will be a disc jockey in the pits after the show, and a Halloween contest as well.
On Saturday night, the grand national and legends divisions will join the program with the track’s five weekly classes. A 5:30 p.m. start time is on tap.
