SCRIBNER, WILSON & KEMKES AMONG 141 SPEEDWAY WINNERS AUGUST 1

(FRANCIS CREEK, WI) – AUG 1 – Kiel’s Eric Scribner grabbed the lead on the first circuit and survived a late race surge by Little Suamico’s Josh Long and went on to capture the 25-IMCA modified feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday on Everbreeze Property Maintenance LLC night at the races.

Scribner started on the pole position of the 25 lap feature, and immediately began to distance himself from the balance of the field. Hometown driver Will Garceau jumped into second in the early going, and kept within striking distance of Scribner, even as the Kiel veteran began sifting through lapped traffic past the event’s halfway point.

The race was red flagged on lap 20 when veteran R.M. Van Pay slammed into the wall near the turn three pit entrance. The violent collision sent Van Pay’s racer into a rollover. Van Pay emerged unhurt, but a lengthly delay took place to safely remove Van Pay’s battered racer, and to make hasty repairs to the wall.

With a five lap dash to the checkers Long, who started eighth on the grid, snuck into the runnerup spot on the lap 20 restart. Long pulled alongside of Scribner on a few occasions, but came up just short at the checkers. Long settled for second place, followed by Johnny Whitman, Garceau and Brian Mullen, who stormed through the field from 13th to place fifth.

Little Suamico’s Tyler Wilson took the lead at the drop of the green, and kept that top spot after a lap 11 restart to capture the IMCA stock car feature win. Van Pay, one of a handful of drivers pulling double duty here tonight, chased down Wilson and provided a late race challenge in the waning laps, and wound up second. Placing third through fifth were Aiden Gretz, Eric Mahlik and Jamison MacDonald.

Appleton’s Cory Kemkes won the IMCA sportmod feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Aug. 1. (Throttle Shots)

Appleton’s Cory Kemkes grabbed the lead on the second circuit, and sweated out no less than four caution periods to collect the IMCA northern sportmod feature win. Second place finisher Chris Kuchta trailed nearly a full straightaway behind as the checkers flew. Cole Thomas, Coy Vlies and Kaden Besaw placed third through fifth, respetively.

Neshkoro’s Jake Richards came out atop a 19 car field to capture the Dirt Devil Grand National series win. The event went caution free. The same could not be said for the street stock feature, however. Alex Haese emerged triumphant in a contest that was littered with multiple caution flags.

Chilton’s Mike Meier won the caution free, IMCA sport compact feature.

Racing resumes next Saturday, August 8 for Jerovetz Motorsports Shock Services night at the races. The first green flag flies at 6 p.m.For more information check out our website 141speedway.com or check out our Facebook page.
