REINWALD, MAHLIK, VLIES, VAN STRATEN & MEIER SCORE 141 MAINS

(FRANCIS CREEK, WI) – July 11 – Beaver Dam’s Russ Reinwald grabbed the lead with seven laps remaining and went on to win the 25-IMCA modified feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday.

Reinwald started ninth on the grid in the main event. Polesitter Clint Parsons lead the opening round, only to have the lead wrestled away by Don Scheffler one circuit later.

A lap five yellow bunched up the field and on the restart, Reinwald began slicing his way through the pack, moving up to third by lap nine. Reinwald moved into second by lap 10, and began chasing down Scheffler, passing the Milwaukee veteran on lap 18.
Reinwald fought off a late race surge from current point leader Johnny Whitman in the final laps to score the win. Whitman took second, followed by Brian Mullen, Mike Mullen and Gregory Gretz.

Green Bay’s Eric Mahlik scored his second straight IMCA stock car win in as many weeks at the Francis Creek oval.

Mahlik, who started on the pole position, wrestled the lead away from fellow front row starter R.M. Van Pay and kept the top spot the balance of the contest to seal the deal. Suring’s Daniel Sell Jr.took runnerup money, followed by Luke Lemmens, Jason Czarapata and John Adams.

Casco’s Coy Vlies charged from his 12th starting spot and whisked past Derek Fehling to take the lead on lap 17 and scored his 11th feature flag on area ovals this year in the IMCA northern sportmod class. Fehling hung on for second at the checkers. Elijah Koenig, Bruce Belland and Kaden Besaw took second through fifth, respectively.

Hortonville’s Trey Van Straten and Chilton’s Mike Meier copped the Unified street stock and IMCA sport compact features, respectively.
Three nights of racing are on tap for this week, the KIng Of The Creek IX will dole out a $10,000 top prize for the IMCA stock cars July 16-18.

Racing begins at 6 p.m. all three nights. Thursday, a test-and-tune will take place, including a $1,500-to-win Invitational Race for late models. A full show takes place on Friday and Saturday, with IMCA modifieds, northern sportmods, sport compacts and street stocks.
