ANVELINK CASHES IN A $5K PAYDAY IN OUTAGAMIE WAYNE ROFFERS MEMORIAL

(SEYMOUR, WI) July 10 – Bonduel’s Nick Anvelink led wire-to-wire, leading all 30 laps en route to earning a $5,000 payday by winning the first ever Wayne Roffers Memorial late model feature at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday.

By virtue of earning ample passing points, the veteran pilot started on the pole position of the 30-lap contest. It took three attempts to get the race going, and once the show went green, Anvelink wasted no time, distancing himself from the balance of the 22 car field.

Anvelink’s lead was a five car length margin by lap eight, while Jesse Glenz and Joel Bennett scrapped for the runnerup spot. Glenz’s night came to a halt when his mount stalled on the track on lap 16, drawing an amber.

When racing resumed, Anvelink continued to keep all challengers at bay to collect the $5k payday. Bennett, Tim Isennberg, Justin Ritchie and Justin Schmidt finished second through fifth, respectively.

Casco’s Benji LaCrosse, wheeling a machine out of the Paul Parker stable, earned the night’s hard charger award, advancing 17 spots, and collecting a $500 bonus from the Wayne Roffers family.

LaCrosse promptly followed up with a solid performance in the IMCA modifieds, leading all 20 laps in a caution-free contest. LaCrosse had built up a full straightaway lead by the contest’s halfway point. Russ Reinwald, Mike Mullen, Dan Roedl and Marcus Yarie took 2nd through fifth, respectively. Hometown driver Jayden Schmidt, fresh off a Dakota Mod Tour run, earned the hard charger award, moving from 19th to sixth, and earning a $200 bonus.

Hortonville’s Chase Parker dodged a handful of caution periods and a fast-closing Mike Mullen in the waning laps to capture the IMCA stock car feature. Mullen charged from his 17th starting spot to snag runnerup honors. Jason Czarapata, Jerry Wilinski and Presley Harrington rounded out the top five finishers.

“The Red Rocket” J.J. Vander Loop fought off a hard-charging Coy Vlies all race long to capture the IMCA norther sportmod feature. Other main events were won by Slinger’s Roman Blank (street stock) and Kaukauna’s Thomas Schulte (IMCA sport compact).

165 cars in five divisions took part in the event.

The Wayne Roffers family wishes to thank all of the people who made this annual event a success. Next year’s event will pay $10,000 to the winner of the late model feature – details to follow in the future.

Next Friday, July 17 IMCA modifieds will battle for a $1,000-to-win top prize. IMCA stock cars will be off. For more information check out our website outagamiespeedway.com or check out our Facebook page.
