MAHLIK, JOHNSON, POTTER & JAKE RICHARDS ALL SWEEP 141 SPEEDWAY FEATURES
(FRANCIS CREEK, WI) June 27– A quartet of drivers earned clean sweeps at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday night.
Green Bay’s Eric Mahlik (IMCA stock car), Burnett’s Dakota Johnson (IMCA northern sportmod), Pell Lake’s Cody Potter (street stock) and Neshkoro’s Jake Richards (grand nationals) all captured both their heat and feature wins in their respective classes.
Chilton’s Colton See jumped into the lead of the 20-lap IMCA modified feature at the drop of the green and was never headed. The victory was See’s first here of the season. The race went green-to-checkered without a yellow. Bonduel’s Sean Falk, Suamico’s Josh Long, Kiel’s Eric Scribner and Cole Czarneski placed 2nd through fifth, respectively.
Mahlik started sixth in the IMCA stock car main, and hung around the fourth and fifth spots for a balance of the contest. With five laps remaining, Tyler Wilson and Rod Snellenberger were scrapping for the lead. Mahlik stormed on the high groove, and passed the leaders on lap 22 to take the lead and eventual win. At the checkers Snellenberger settled for second, followed by Luke Lemmens, Wilson and Aiden Gretz.
The IMCA northern sportmod feature got off to a rocky start, with a pair of yellows in the first three circuits. Johnson wrestled the lead away from Michael Springborn on lap four and got bottled up in lapped traffic in the final five laps. That allowed Brady Harshbarger, Elijah Koenig and Tyler DeMars to close the gap. Johnson was up for the challenge, and hung on for the win. Placing 2nd through 5th were Harshbarger, Koenig, DeMars and Ryan Besaw.
Potter lead every lap in the street stock feature win, while Jake Richards grabbed the grand national feature lead on a lap 16 restart and cruised to victory. In the IMCA sport compact main, Chilton’s Shawn Bangart slipped in the lead late in the race to secure the win.
The next event at 141 Speedway will be the “Independence Day Blast Into Cash” Wednesday, July 1. There will be no racing at 141 on July 4. Racing action gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Check out 141speedway.com or the track’s Facebook page for additional information
