ZDROIK, DALBECK & EISEL COP EAGLE RIVER MAINS – SNELLENBERGER SNAGS IMCA STOCK WIN NO. 230
(EAGLE RIVER, WI) June 9 – Hometown driver Jason Zdroik ducked underneath fellow Eagle River racer Jeff Thomas to snatch the lead with three circuits remaining, and went on to capture the USRA late model feature at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday.
Thomas jumped into the lead from the pole position at the drop of the green of the 20 lap contest. Zdroik quickly darted into the second spot. Thomas stayed on the high groove, while Zdroik kept hugging the bottom groove. After a lap nine caution, Zdroik pulled door-to-door alongside of Thomas, and the pair went back-and-forth for several laps.
On lap 17, Zdroik found the bite he needed, and whisked past Thomas to score the win. Thomas held on for second place, followed by defending track champion Lucas Peterson, Dan Zelten and Jason McFadden.
Wakefield, Michigan’s George Dalbeck took advantage of racer leader Dave Dishaw getting bottled up behind a lapped car, taking the lead late in the race and going on to win the B mod feature.
The contest was littered with multiple cautions, and Dishaw kept that lead through numerous restarts. During the balance of the contest, Dalbeck waited in the weeds, opting to strike when Dishaw got stuck behind Beetle Bailey’s racer, which had suffered a mechanical malfunction and had slowed on the backstretch before pulling into the infield.
Dalbeck kept Dishaw at bay through a pair of late cautions to score the win. Dishaw settled for second at the pay window. Michigan drivers picked up the top three spots, as Mass City’s Kory Joliff stormed through the field from 12th to take third. Andy Fink and Dustin Kangas took fourth and fifth, respectively.

Pulaski’s “Hot Rod” Snellenberger won his 230th career IMCA stock car feature win at Eagle River Speedway June 9. (Castle Creations)
Former track champion “Hot Rod” Snellenberger marched through the pack from his ninth starting spot, storming past Jeff Bodendorfer and Jordan Kurtii with a three-wide pass on lap 11 to grab the lead and win the IMCA stock car feature.
The event went caution-free without a yellow.
The victory was Snellenberger’s 230th career IMCA stock car victory.
Defending track champion Jason Eisel, The “Mayor Of Sugar Camp” grabbed the lead with seven laps remaining and cruised to victory in the street stock feature. Josh Joslin, Nick Allard, Eisel’s daughter Hope Eisel, and Jeremy Joslin placed second through fifth, respectively.
Cornell, Michigan’s Ethan Manninen swept action in the 600 micro sprints, copping both the heat and feature. Pure stocks ran a pair of features – one of which was a makeup contest from opening night that had been rained out. Phillips’ Devin Fries and Tomahawk’s Trevor Schumann each picked up those victories.
Twin Lakes’ Carter Aho won the Pro 300 feature, while hometown driver Myia Ewert picked up the Semi-Pro 300 micro sprint feature win.
Drivers from three states took part in tonight’s racing program: Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan.
Racing resumes Tuesday, June 16 at 7:00. A Flag Day Celebration will include our traditional on-track autograph session. Kids will receive a free checkered flag. For more information check out the track’s Facebook page.
