Ambrosius, and Vanderloop Capture Outagamie Wins by Joe Orsini
(Seymour, WI) June 5 – Lightning decided to join in the typical Friday Night Thunder at Outagamie Speedway. The racing wasn’t just limited to the racing surface as the track also raced Mother Nature in an attempt to get the show in. 77 cars and drivers rolled the dice in favor of beating the odds and some reaped the rewards. With Hank Olson Construction on board as the title sponsor for the evening the action was sure to be hot.
The Seubert Calf Ranches Late model feature saw Nick Anvelink rocket to the lead at the drop of the green. Brett Swedberg overcame heat race troubles to grab fourth on lap four. By the halfway mark Anvelink held a solid lead over Justin Schmidt, Tim Isenberg, Swedberg, and Kurt Moeller. Caution flew shortly after the halfway mark as rains shortened the feature and the top five came home in the same order they came across the stripe at the halfway point. Anvelink did pocket an extra $200 courtesy of Schenk’s Hardwood Solutions LLC.
The Trailer Express IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature lined up to battle for a $1000 top prize. Mitchell Fairbank took advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead right off the bat. Ryan Besaw slid by on the inside of Jordan Gracyalny on lap two to secure the runner up spot. Lap three saw Gracyalny lose third to Dylan Schmidt as Schmidt also worked past on the low line. Max Oreskovich saw his shot for the $1000 win go up, literally, in smoke on lap seven as his #75 came up gimpy in turn two in a cloud of smoke. As his racer slowed it backed up the field and brought out the caution. JJ Vanderloop took advantage of the ensuing restart to move up to third but by the halfway mark he dropped back to fourth. Vanderloop quickly regrouped and moved back past Kaden Besaw to third on lap 11. Vanderloop kept the speed up and moved by Ryan Besaw into second on lap 16. Ryan Besaw and Vanderloop both closed on the leader, Fairbank, and the trio went three wide for the lead with Vanderloop hugging the tractor tires on the bottom, Fairbank in the middle, and Besaw on the outside. When the dust settled Vanderloop locked up the $1000 win, Ryan Besaw was second, Kaden Besaw third, Jared Spaudling fourth, and Fairbank held on to round out the top five.
The Vettings Customs Rigs and Rides Unified Dirt Street Stock feature had Logan Schmeck pace the early laps until Paul Ambrosius slipped into the lead on lap 3. Ambrosius continued to lead at the midway point of the race with Trey Van Straten running second, Kyle Genett third, Paul Diefenthaler fourth, and Jacob Ambrosius fifth. As the laps clicked off Genett, Ambrosius, and Diefenthaler went three wide for the race lead. At the checkers Ambrosius secured the win, Genett was second, Paul Diefenthaler third, Brooke Diefenthaler fourth, and Jacob Ambrosius came home fifth.
The balance of the program was cancelled due to inclement weather.
