WHITMAN, VILES SCORE BACK-TO-BACK WINS, DIEFENTHALER HITS CENTURY MARK WITH WINS

(FRANCIS CREEK, WI) May 2 – Suamico’s Johnny Whitman ducked underneath Denmark’s Cole Czarneski to grab the lead on lap 17 and cruised to his second straight IMCA modified feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday. The contest went caution-free without a yellow.

The win was worth $1,700.

Whitman started fifth in the 25 lap contest. Czarneski shot into the lead at the drop of the green from his pole position. Czarneski, R.M. Van Pay, Whitman, and Josh Long all battled up from for the first several laps until Whitman assumed the second spot by lap seven.

Whitman kept his racer hugging the bottom groove, while Czarneski flew inches away from the retaining wall on the high side. The lead duo encountered lapped traffic halfway through the race. Van Pay squeezed past Czarneski to take second with five laps remaining. Whitman hung on for his second straight win here. Van Pay, Czarneski, Josh Long and Tony Wedelstadt placed 2nd through 5th, respectively.

Green Bay’s Luke Lemmens stormed from his 10th starting spot into the lead on lap eight and cruised to victory in the IMCA stock car main.

Lemmens wasted little time slicing his way through the pack, taking 2nd by lap four. Lemmens whisked past race leader Aaron Karcz for the lead on the eighth circuit, and began sifting through lapped traffic halfway through the contest.
A lap 17 yellow wiped out Lemmens’ significant margin. When racing resumed, the second-generation ace maintained the lead. The contest was red flagged late in the race when Daniel Sell Jr. wound up rolling onto his side in turn four. He was unhurt. Lemmens fought off a late race surge from Czarneski to score the win. Czarneski marched from 11th to place second. Junior Karcz, Aaron Karcz and Aiden Gretz took third through fifth, respectively.
