THE SPONSORSHIP DECK – A CRITICAL MARKETING TOOL by Joe Verdegan

(MARCH, 2026 MONTHLY MOTORSPORTS MARKETING MAIL TIP)

A tool is only good if it’s put to use, and sponsorship decks are no different.

And like anything else, often the results of a sponsorship search are many times dictated by how much time and effort is put into that search.

The sponsorship deck can be both in digital format and (yes, I’m going to go old school here) a physical, professionally-prepared, full-color document. Each has their place when soliciting marketing partners.

There are some success stories – in Wisconsin at least. Derks Racing is a Chilton, Wisconsin-based father-son racing team of Eric and Parker Derks. This winter, armed with sponsorship decks crafted by yours truly, This duo rounded up a total of NINE new marketing partners for the 2026 season. In some cases, Derks presented a physical copy of their sponsorship deck to potential partners. In other cases, a digital PDF file did the trick. “Purchasing your marketing deck was the motivation for me to go all in on this,” said Eric Derks. “When you have the tools, knowledge and motivation you CAN pick up advertising partners.”

The bottom line here is the EFFORT that was put in to obtain these new partners. Oftentimes, I think teams may get frustrated and give up in the search, often too easily. Derks was persistent, and followed up with phone calls on a regular basis. (Check out the team’s Derks Racing Facebook page).

Obtaining marketing partners is just like anything else in life – you get out of it what you put into it.

I can’t stress this enough. If you’re NOT well-versed in things like spelling and grammar, find someone who is. That person or persons can assist you in putting together a colorful, eye-catching sponsorship deck.

We do assist race teams with putting together sponsorship decks, which are a critical tool in the great money hunt. Simply drop me an email at jverdegan2@gmail.com and let’s get those conversations started.
