(FRANCIS CREEK, WI) Sept. 5 – Series points leader Jeff Storm grabbed the lead on lap 20 and went on to win the 50-lap Mid-American Series points race at 141 Speedway Saturday.
Starting in the fourth row, Storm bided his time through a pair of early caution periods, one of which involved a tangle with Jeff DeKeuster and South Bend, IN driver Ron Albaugh in turn two on lap seven.

Early race leader Steve Schenian resumed the top spot under the green with series rookie Jeff Holtz motoring by Schenian on lap 12.

Another yellow flew a few laps later as Gregg Haese and Bobby Gutnecht collided in turn three while scrapping for fifth. Storm bolted into second on the restart with track points leader Rick Lemmens following. Storm whisked by Holtz using the high groove on lap 20, with Lemmens taking second a few circuits later.

Storm kept a three car length cushion from Lemmens until a lap 38 yellow for Schenian’s stalled racer. Storm kept Lemmens at bay for the remainder dozen laps to seal the win while Lemmens and Holtz took second and third, respectively. Kevin Rybuck placed fourth with Pat Kelly charging through the pack from dead last to place fifth. Haese, of Two Rivers, regained his spot as top rookie in the points with a sixth place finish. Haese also caught a break when his chief competitor, Curt Van Der Wall of Oskaloosa, Iowa, failed to make the feature.

Bob Schneider led all 25 laps en route to his ninth mini stock feature win of the season.
Schneider’s son Jesse Schneider, Merle Armstrong, Jimbo Schleis and Dave Gauger trailed at the checkers.Greg Hauser copped the super stock feature while Tom Ruh cruised to his second 25-lap hobby stock feature.
