Another IMCA Supernationals has come and gone, and once again, Wisconsin was well represented down in the heart and soul of IMCA country at Boone (Iowa) Speedway this past week.

Some teams not only took the entire week off for the “Racing Vacation.” some even went down a weekend prior to partake in the area’s local, weekly racing to prep for the “Big Show.”

When it came to making the “Big Dance” on Saturday night with the three main divisions (IMCA modifieds, stock cars and northern sportmods) no less than nine area drivers qualified into the Big Show.

One of those drivers, Denmark’s Cole Czarneski, made his way into both the modified and stock car A mains.

Of all the Wisconsin drivers, it was Jeff Steenbergen who was the lone driver to score a top ten finish. Steenbergen placed 10th in the sportmod A main, which was won by Manning, Iowa’s Jake Sachau.

Appleton’s Cory Kemkes took 16th in the sportmod A, with Casco’s Coy Vlies finishing 26th.

Czarneski placed 16th in the IMCA stock car main, with Luxemburg’s Jared Siefert finishing 20th. Horicon’s Jeremy Christians placed 22nd. Hometown driver Jake McBirnie won the stock car A.

Suamico’s Johnny “Hitman” Whitman finished 12th in the modified A. Suamico’s Josh Long scored a 16th place finish, with Czarneski 18th, and Antigo’s Zach Raab taking the 19th position. The modified feature was won by Mesa, Arizona driver Tim Ward.

These are very unofficial numbers, as some drivers come and go during the week. But as far as Wisconsin modified drivers go, 17 drivers headed to Corn Country to race against the best in the nation.

30 Wisconsin, IMCA stock car racers were in attendance. 19 Wisconsin, IMCA northern sportmod drivers were entered. Two IMCA sport compact drivers were from Wisconsin. More than 1,100 racers took part in the week long celebration of short track racing.
