We’ve approached mid-season at most Wisconsin ovals, and the year in racing continues to fly by quickly. With that said, let’s get right to it!
This summer seems to truly be flying by. On my end, I’m enjoying what I call “Tom Wagner Mode” where I pinch hit on the microphone at tracks in northeastern Wisconsin.
It was good to return to Luxemburg Friday night. Track was in great shape, and the racing (after a few early heat races with “yellow fever”) was really stout.
Crowd was a tad light but with all the specials locally, sometimes that’s to be expected. Thanks to Tracy Thrun and his staff for keeping the lights on in Kewaunee County. Promoting a race track has become more challenging with each year, and it’s most certainly not for the faint at heart.

The 2025 Hall of Fame class was ushered in by veteran track announcer and historian Tom Wagner at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay Satuday.
Those inductees included Gregg Siebold, Jeff May, Randy LeMieux Sr., Rick LeMieux and Clyde LeMieux Jr. Congrats to these five!
At Cedar Lake Speedway Saturday, Navarino’s Nick Anvelink finished 2nd in the Duane Mahder Memorial Race. Bonduel native A.J. Diemel placed sixth, Chippewa Falls’ Jesse Glenz picked up the win and the $10,555 top prize. A whopping 58 late models showed up to do battle. That doesn’t include the 32 USRA late models that were also on the card.
BY THE NUMBERS – A pair of former IMCA stock car national champions each added to their respective win totals over the weekend. Pulaski native Brandon Czarapata earned sanctioned career win No. 138 at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday. Meanwhile on Saturday night at Shawano Speedway, Horicon’s Jeremy Christians picked up sanctioned career win No. 123. 34 different sportmod racers have earned feature wins on area dirt ovals heading into this week….at 141 Speedway alone, after the $10,000 King Of The Creek race, a total of 115 drivers have earned points in that class in ’25.
141 BACK ON – After being off last Saturday, weekly racing action resumes at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday, July 25 with the IMCA northern sportmods scrapping for a $1,000 top prize. Powder Puff races will also be held for the ladies. The action gets underway at 6 p.m. in Francis Creek.
SHAWANO – IMCA northern sportmods will battle for a $1,000 top prize at Shawano Speedway Saturday, July 25. The track will host a tribute to the local karting teams on Sun Drop Soda night. The hammer drops at 6 p.m. Street stocks have been added to the Saturday, August 16 show at the half-mile.
ANTIGO HALF-MILE HUSTLE – Racing returns to the Langlade County Fairgrounds Thursday, July 24 for the “Half Mile Hustle.” Modifieds, sportmods and stock cars (IMCA style) are scheduled to compete with racing at 7 p.m. For additional information you can contact Nick Wild at nwildlangladefair@gmail.com
OUTAGAMIE – In a cross-promotional event of sorts, Outagamie Speedway in Seymour will be offering door prizes via a random drawing for teams that compete in both the Thursday night show at Antigo and the Friday night show at Seymour. Action at the Outagamie County Fairgrounds gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
THE HILL RACEWAY – Kroll Machine and Fabrication will sponsor the action at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay Saturday, July 26. The Stock Car Busch Shootout will take place after the track’s regular show. The action gets underway at John Miles Park at 6 p.m.
EAGLE RIVER DOUBLE FEATURES – Feature races in the B mod and pure stock divisions that were washed out last Tuesday will be made up this coming Tuesday night, July 22 at Eagle River Speedway in Eagle River. The action is set to get underway at 7 p.m. The track will also be hosting a Monster Truck show Saturday, July 26. Check out the track’s Facebook page for additional information. Two shows will be held that day.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS – Action resumes Friday, July 24 at both Luxy Raceway in Luxemburg and Gravity Park USA in Chilton. Action at both dirt ovals is set to commence at 7 p.m.
PAVEMENT PONDERINGS – Neenah’s Braison Bennett, wheeling the Coleman Racing Products No. 119, picked up the Stateline Challenge super late model win at Norway (MI) Speedway Friday. The Midwest Truck Series saw yet another first time winner Saturday as Deerfield’s Robbie Rucks picked up the win at his hometrack Jefferson Speedway.
WIR/FOX RIVER RACING CLUB – It will be “Christmas In July” night at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna Thursday, July 24. Fans can bring donations for the local “Toys For Tots” program. The action gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
TUNDRA SUPER LATES – The next scheduled event for the TUNDRA super late model series will be a co-op event with the Alive For Five series on Saturday, August 9 at Dells Raceway Park.

HOWIE LETTOW CLASSIC – The ASA Midwest Tour returns to Madison International Speedway Friday, July 25 for the Howie Lettow Classic. The MT super late models will be joined by the Midwest Truck Series. Racing gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
ALL STAR TRADE RACE – The All Star Challenge Series for pro late models will swing into Golden Sands Speedway in Plover Friday, July 25 for the “Trade Race.” This event provides a chance to replace a drivers worst finishing event with a more successful finish if they decide to participate in this optional race. The action kicks off at 7:45 p.m.
KARTING KORNER – Action last Wednesday night at GSR Kartway was washed out by Mother Nature. Racing resumes this Wednesday, July 23 with Marketplace Foods Night sponsoring the action. Lawn mower and kart racing gets underway at the Clintonville oval at 7 p.m.
Little Buckaroo Jr. Motorsports Park will host Arrow Auto night at the Cecil, Wisconsin oval Sunday, July 27. Racing gets underway at 2 p.m.
Remember to get out and support your local short track IN PERSON whenever possible. Nothing wrong with the multiple streaming services available. But NOTHING beats being there!
