(SEYMOUR, WI) MAY 23 – The WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model feature event kicked off with Joel Bennett seeking to capture his first Dirt Kings Tour feature win. Tonight saw Bennett grab the lead at the drop of the green from his pole position starting spot. Bennett maneuvered through lap traffic and was able to hold off a late race charge from Mitch McGrath and Gunner Frank to lock up his first career tour feature win. A Full Dirt Kings Tour race recap can be found at https://dirtkingstour.com/
The Professional Plating IMCA Modified feature event saw Wyatt Block launch into the early lead from his front row starting spot. By lap five Flyin’ Brian Mullen had worked from 5th at the start into the runner up position. Mullen set his sights on Block and the duo fell into a multi lap side by side battle for the top spot. Neither driver was able to gain the advantage as the pair swapped the lead in a seesaw battle for 12 laps. With three laps to go Mullen was able to slide past Block and hung on to secure the win. Block settled for a hard fought 2nd, Jayden Schmitt charged to 3rd from his 11th place starting spot, Konnor Wilinski was 4th, and The Hitman, Johnny Whitman rounded out the top 5..

Jerry Wilinski grabbed the lead on the opening lap of the Monroe Truck Equipment\K&E Sales IMCA Stock Car A main event. As Wilinskit sought to check out on the field trouble struck on lap three when Jesse Krahn suffered a flat right front tire that shot his 55K machine up the track and almost into the wall between turns 3 and 4. The slowed racer drew the caution but the surprising issue was with the race leader. Wilinski’s steel stallion came to a stop in turn one and had to be helped off the track by the wrecker crew. With Wilinski down for the count Travis VanStraten inherited the lead.
VanStraten held court on the restart but Brett Wenzel quickly climbed to 2nd from his 5th row starting spot and applied pressure to VanStraten for the lead by lap 7. A lap 11 caution slowed the pace and bunched the rest of the field up behind VanStraten. On the ensuing restart a three wide battle for second broke out as Wenzel worked the low side, Mighty Mike Mullen slid through the middle, and Josh Mroczkowski braved the high side. Mullen emerged from the scrum with 2nd place locked up and by lap 14 he worked past VanStraten into the lead. Mullen didn’t look back over the final circuits and held on to capture the win. Wenzel also got by VanStraten to claim 2nd, VanStraten was 3rd, Mroczkowski came home 4th, and Hot Rod Snellenberger closed out the top 5.
The Trailer Express IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature event started with excitement as Braxton Ambrosius snatched the lead on the opening lap after starting outside row 2. Jared Spaulding got past pole sitter, Aaron Butterbrodt, on lap 4 to grab 2nd but Butterbrodt was undeterred and retook the runner up spot two laps later. By the halfway mark 2024 champ Max Oreskovich snuck by Spaulding to take 3rd. Caution flew on lap 15 and the restart saw Oreskovich shoot to the lead with four laps remaining. Oreskovich staved off the rest of the pack in the closing laps and secured the win. Kaden Besaw closed out a solid night in 2nd, Butterbrodt was 3rd, Ryan Schmidt 4th, and Dylan Schmidt was 5th.
The Vetting Customs Rigs and Rides Unified Dirt Street Stock feature started out with opening night winner, Trey Van Straten, grabbing the first lap lead. His time at the front was short lived as The Dominator, Paul Diefenthaler, hustled around the outside to the point on lap 3. Diefenthaler would be unchallenged over the remainder of the event and held on for the win. Van Straten was 2nd, Derek Schrauth 3rd, Paul Ambrosius 4th, and Malachi Bierman completed the top 5.
The Midwest Equipment Dock and Lift Service IMCA Sport Compact A-main event saw Nathan Lisowe launch to the early lead only to face immediate pressure from David Cox. Cox and Lisowe battled for the top spot until contact between the pair drew the yellow flag on lap 14. Both drivers were sent to the back for the restart. Logan Boehnlein led at the restart but Al Cottrell shot by on lap 16. Cottrell was unable to hold off the hard charging Cody Booth. Booth secured the win and the 2024 champ kicked off his title defense with back to back feature wins. Cottrell settled for 2nd, Chase Thomson was 3rd, TJ Everard 4th, and Boehnlein 5th.
Outagamie Speedway by Klink Equipment & Elite Coatings is back in action next Friday night, May 30th with a 6:30 start time.
