FINAL EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY POINTS NIGHT WASHED OUT – CHAMPIONS CROWNED

(Two specials remain on track’s 2024 schedule)

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) Aug. 27 – Mother Nature was the final decider of who earned track championships at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday as the final points night of racing for 2024 was washed out due to severe weather.

As a result, the points chases in the respective divisions are done and track champions have been decided.

In the Sweetwater late model class it was hometown racer Jason Zdroik who captured the championship. Zdroik, who also won the division crown in 2023, abandoned his B mod and focused his racing efforts on his late model and also pinch hitting in an IMCA stock car at his home track. Zdroik beat out Tomahawk’s Zack and Travis Friske who both tied for second eight points behind Zdroik.

13 different late model drivers earned late model points in 2024.

Mass City, Michigan’s Kory Joliff edged out another Michigan racer, Dave Dishaw, by one slim point to collect the Chef Rene B mod track title. A total of 19 different B mod drivers earned points this year.

Wisconsin’s winningest IMCA stock car driver – Pulaski’s “Hot Rod” Snellenberger – earned his third track championship.

 

Pulaski, Wisconsin’s ‘Hot Rod’ Snellenberger won his third IMCA stock car track title at Eagle River Speedway in 2024.

Snellenberger edged out hometown driver Jonathan Miller by a 24 point margin in the J & J Construction IMCA stock car class. As this goes to press, Snellenberger has earned 228 career IMCA stock car feature wins since he started his racing career in 1993.

In the division’s first year with the IMCA sanctioning 17 different drivers earned points in ’24.

It was hometown driver “The Iceman” Quentin Morrison who won his first career track championship in the Zdroik Well Drilling street stocks. Morrison beat out Mass City, Michigan’s Wyatt McIntyre by nine markers to secure the title. 24 different street stock drivers earned points at ERS in ’24.

Escanaba, Michigan’s Chase Richer repeated as track champion in the JD’s Paintball & Archery 600 micro sprints. Richer outdistanced Boulder Junction’s Katherine Towne by six points to secure his second straight division crown.

Eight different drivers scored points in the division this year.

Hometown driver Mason Meier dominated action in the Halsey Fab/Dan’s Service 300 micro sprint division. Meier wrapped up the title with a 21 point margin over Twin Lakes, Michigan’s Carter Aho. 14 different drivers earned points in the division in ’24.

Prentice’s Brent Mindock secured the pure stock track crown August 20, with an eight point margin over Tomahawk’s Trevor Schumann. The track ran an abbreviated schedule in ’24 with 10 different drivers earning points this year.

Two nights of racing remain in 2024 at Eagle River Speedway. Saturday, August 31 will see the third annual Grand National Sportsman showcase. Joining the D.G.N.O.W. will be the tracks weekly divisions including the 500 Micro Sprints from Escanaba Motor Speedway. The Grand Nationals will battle for a $2,550 top prize.

The season finale will be a late model special Saturday, September 7. Same as August 31 – all the track’s regular weekly divisions will be in action. Seubert Calf Ranches Incorporated is sponsoring the late model show September 7 that will payout $1,500-to-win and $200-to-start. The late models will follow the Eagle River Speedway/USRA-style rules.

Other sponsors include Superior Plumbing, Meier Electrical Systems, Sweetwater Spirits and Resort, Chef Rene’s, J n J Construction, Wisconsin Building Supply, Dustin White Construction, JD Archery and Paint Ball Supply, Red’s Auto and Zdroik Well Drilling for both Saturday night specials.
