CZARNESKI DOUBLES DOWN ON OUTAGAMIE WINS – ORESKOVICH SCORES $1,050

(Seymour, Wisconsin) August 9 – Denmark’s Cole Czarneski pulled a true ‘double’ at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday as Czarneski picked up feature wins in both the IMCA modified and stock car divisions, respectively.

Clintonville’s Max Oreskovich wrestled the lead away from Cole Slezewski on lap one and survived a handful of caution flags to win the IMCA modified feature at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday.

The win for the second generation driver was worth $1,050.

In the 20 lap stock car contest Czarneski started inside row four and lurked within the top five for much of the early going of the contest. Czarneski whistled past leader Austin Jansen for the lead on lap 10. One round later Jansen wound up rolling over his mount in turn three. Jansen emerged unhurt but was done for the night.

Czarneski kept the lead and went on to score the win. Trailing Czarneski at the checkers were Rod Snellenberger, Brett Wenzel, Jared Siefert and Josh Mroczkowski.

With little time remaining to celebrate his stock car win, A few parade laps were necessary before the start of the IMCA modified feature to allow Czarneski to quickly jump from one car to another in the infield.

Czarneski started eighth on the grid and was able to dodge a major melee that occurred on lap nine. Hometown driver Konner Wilinski locked horns with Wausau’s Marcus Yarie while scrapping for the lead. The result was a major pileup which took out a number of competitors – among them some heavy hitters – Brian Mullen, Wilinski, Jayden Schmidt, Jeff Bodendorfer and Kevin Feck. Yarie was charged with the caution and after a long delay for a cleanup Yarie dropped out of the contest.

Czarneski inherited the lead when racing resumed and maintained the top spot for the second half of the race. Czarneski was able to dodge a couple of lapped cars in the waning laps to score his second main event of the night. Beaver Dam’s Skylar Woods took second, followed by Johnny Whitman, Jason Czarapata and Justin Ritchie.

Oreskovich started on the pole position of the sportmod feature and snatched the lead away from fellow front row starter Slezewski after the first circuit. Oreskovich proved to be strong on several restarts as Elijah Koenig, Colton See and Bernie Miller all took turns scrapping for the runnerup spot and the Clintonville ace was able to keep all challengers at bay for the balance of the contest.

See settled for runnerup money at the pay window. Miller, Ryan Schmidt and Cory Kemkes finished third through fifth, respectively.

New Franken’s Derek Moede jumped into the lead at the drop of the green and never surrendered the top spot en route to winning the 20 lap street stock feature. The event, which went wire-to-wire without a yellow, saw Moede win by a full straightaway margin over second place finisher Paul Diefenthaler. Josh McDonald, James Fletcher and Devin Yaeger rounded out the top five finishers.

Kaukauna’s Ben Schulte won the IMCA sport compact feature. (danlewisphoto.net)

Kaukauna’s Ben Schulte won the caution free IMCA sport compact feature while a pair of Milwaukee Area Vintage heats went to Campbellsport’s Butch Hafeman and Ringle’s Jeremy Allard.

The program was halted after the second IMCA modified heat as pesky rain showers brought out the red flag on the entire program. Track crews worked diligently to get the track back into shape along with dozens of drivers who chipped in to help pack the track.

Action resumes next Friday, August 16. The late models return to action, joining the track’s other weekly classes. Action begins at 6:30 p.m. You can check outagamiespeedway.com for additional information.
