LACROSSE NETS $14K PLUS CHANGE IN FIVE DAYS WINNING ON WISCONSIN DIRT
Posted on: Monday June 17, 2024
This past week of racing was most certainly a profitable one for Benji LaCrosse.
The Casco racer who many consider the G.O.A.T. when it comes to Wisconsin IMCA modified racers, earned a total of $14,000 (and some change) in a span of just five days of racing between the IMCA modified and stock car classes.
LaCrosse’s week of earnings kicked off by ‘warming up’ with a fourth place stock car finish Sunday June 9 at Luxy Raceway. LaCrosse’s first victory came Tuesday, June 11 with the IMCA stock car at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek. That same night LaCrosse would finish second in the $10,000-to-win night one of the Clash @ The Creek to Iowan Tim Ward.
LaCrosse would follow that up with his own ‘W’ in the second $10,000-to-win race at 141 on Wednesday night. LaCrosse would also place sixth in the stock car main that same evening.
(That Clash win was LaCrosse’s third as he captured the big race wins prior in 2013 and 2016, respectively).
Wisconsin’s all-time winningest IMCA modified driver wound up scoring the $3,000 IMCA modified feature win at Beaver Dam Raceway Saturday night June 15. LaCrosse has had a lot of success with winning the big dollar shows and LaCrosse’s performance last week is evidence of that.
After this past weekend, LaCrosse holds a 13 win lead over a pair of well known, seasoned modified veterans – Seymour’s Brian Mullen and R.M. Van Pay of Denmark.

FASSBENDER ON THE MEND – Veteran sprint car racer Lance Fassbender suffered 2nd degree burns on his legs after his fuel line broke during hot laps over the weekend. The Burnett racer was flown to St. Mary’s Burn Unit in Milwaukee. A gofundme.com page has been set up to help Fassbender’s family deal with the hefty expenses he will face down the road.
Lance is one of the true good guys in this sport and any amount folks can contribute will be greatly appreciated!
PAVEMENT PONDERINGS – Last Thursday night’s Red race at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna saw one of the largest Thursday night crowds at WIR in many years. This Thursday night, June 20 the WIR ¼ mile late models will be in action with the regular weekly divisions with a 6:30 p.m. start time.
Seymour’s Ty Majeski took 2nd at the Milwaukee Mile Sunday June 16 at the Milwaukee Mile’s ASA Stars National Tour event. Stratford’s Derek Kraus finished ninth while Waterford’s Jeff Storm took 10th when the checkers flew. Lebanon, Tennessee’s Dawson Sutton scored the win. 18 cars took the green flag for this national event.
The historic Mile also played host to the Midwest Truck Series on Father’s Day. Amherst’s Eugene Gregorich III placed 3rd while Appleton’s Brandon Reichenberger finished 10th.
The win went to Oregon’s Chester Ace. The next event scheduled for the trucks is the Hub City 50 at Marshfield Motor Speedway Saturday, June 22.
IMCA sport compacts will scrap for a $500 top prize at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour Friday, June 21. The track’s regular divisions will also be in action, with the first green flag flying at 6:30 p.m.
The first 100 kids through the gates at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay Saturday, June 22 will receive a free checkered flag courtesy of Red Rocket Fireworks and Gift Shop. The grandstand opens at 4 p.m. with the first green flag flying at 6 p.m. at John Miles Park.
After having off last Saturday because of Clash week, Saturday night racing resumes at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday, June 22. 141 will host the ‘Diamond 46’ race with the Dirt Kings late models. 141 is giving the IMCA modifieds and street stocks off that night but will host the IMCA stock cars, northern sportmods & sport compacts along with the grand nationals. A 6 p.m. start time is scheduled.
After not hosting Friday night racing last week Action returns at Luxy Raceway Friday, June 21 with racing action in memory of Keith Leach. A 7 p.m. start time is scheduled at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.
KARTING KORNER – Want to knock watching lawn mower races off your bucket list? Check out the Wednesday night races at GSR Kartway in Clintonville. The 1/8 mile, clay oval hosts lawn mower and kart races weekly. The first green flag drops at 7 p.m. Two nights later Little Buckaroo Jr. Motorports Park in Cecil will host weekly kart races with the first race getting underway at 7 p.m.
Both of these ovals are responsible for churning out many of the area stock car pilots on both dirt and asphalt both locally and regionally.
Whatever the case may be, stock car racing season is in full swing. Make an effort to attend a race at your local track IN PERSON whenever possible. Nothing wrong with all the online streaming platforms available. But NOTHING beats being there in person. Have a great week!
