RECORD 230 CARS AT 141 SPEEDWAY

By Greg Aregoni

(Francis Creek, WI)– A new 141 Speedway weekly record of 230 cars battled on Saturday Night.  Luke Lemmens used all 25 laps of the IMCA Stockcar Feature to track down the leader and make a last corner pass to earn his $1000 victory after starting 7th.

Other winners included: Chris Pigeon(IMCA Modifieds) Cory Kemkes(IMCA Sportmods) Greg Haese(Grand Nationals) Mark Hoeppner(Street Stocks) and Brian Watzka(IMCA Sport Compacts)

Chase Parker started strong in the IMCA Stockcar Feature and was looking to give himself a $1000 birthday present.  Parker got out front from third and ran his line in front of numerous contenders.  Jared Siefert was the first to make his bid for the lead.  Parker kept Siefert at bay throughout numerous attempts.  This allowed Luke Lemmens to join the fun and work through the middle of the racetrack.  Lemmens would get around Siefert and eye the leader as the laps wound down.  Lemmens would get to the outside of Parker on the final lap and the two would drag race around the final 1/3 mile.  Lemmens would grab the lead just off of turn four and beat Parker to the pay window for first.  The win would be Lemmens third career Nathan Bouche Memorial win and clean sweep.  Parker settled for second place pay but great lap leader money.  Siefert beat Jesse Krahn to the line for third and fourth with Nick Buckarma finishing fifth.

Allouez’s Chris Pigeon scored his first career IMCA modified feature win at 141 Speedway May 25. (danlewisphoto.net)

Chris Pigeon had one job to do.  He had to keep 23 other drivers behind him for 20 laps of the IMCA Modified Feature.  After 20 laps, Chris Pigeon not only kept them behind him but dominated the field to pick up his first career IMCA Modified Feature win.  Pigeon started up front with Clint Parsons and the duo would never leave the top two spots.  Pigeon would never be challenged after fighting off an early restart.  Pigeon would get as much as a straightaway lead over Parsons in taking home the win.  Clint Parsons would finish second after beating Todd Dart to the line for the runner up position.  Skyler Woods had a great run in fourth while Shawn Kilgore finished fifth.

Scott Howe led the opening lap of the IMCA Sportmod Feature with Cory Kemkes taking the reigns on lap two even after starting 6th.  Kemkes shot out of a cannon after taking the lead but would have to settle down through two early cautions.  Once green, Kemkes again showed his dominance.  Kemkes would lead throughout lapped traffic late in the race.  Brady Harshberger was able to gain a little momentum on the leader but never enough to make a real bid for the win.  Kemkes picked up the win that earned him a clean sweep after his heat race win.  Harshberger finished second.  Coy Vlies finished third with Colton See fourth.  Robert Wittkopf finished fifth after starting in 18th.

Darryl Traber went from third to first on the opening lap of the Grand National Feature.  Noah Wachowiacz slid into the top spot on lap two and would lead until lap five when Greg Haese made his presence felt.  Haese stayed down low and cruised into the lead.  Haese would pull away from the field and eventually work through lapped traffic.  Haese would win his second Feature of the season on his limited schedule.  Wachowiacz finished second.  Josh Pierce finished third in the caution free race after a race long battle with Rick Gustavson.  Ryan Minster rounded out the top five.

Dave DeGrave-Budzban started on the pole of the Street Stock Feature.  DeGrave-Budzban would only be passed by one car in both his Feature and Heat.  The one car was the same driver in Mark Hoeppner.  Hoeppner tracked down DeGrave-Budzban and moved just to the outside of the leader.  The duo would put on a great race with Hoeppner outdueling DeGrave in the game of cat and mouse.  Hoeppner picked up his first win in the Street Stocks earning the clean sweep victory over DeGrave-Budzban in both the Feature and Heat. Courtney Atkinson made a charge late at the leaders but ran out of time and finished third.  Michael Czarapata beat Dean Yaeger for fourth.

Brian Watzka led every lap in picking up the IMCA Sport Compact Feature win.  Watzka started on the outside pole and jumped way out front.  James Reese flew from 12th to second but ran of time and finished second.  Adam Broehm finished third ahead of Trever Cronick and Shaun Bangart.
