HOPE EISEL BEATS DAD ACROSS LINE FOR FIRST EVER EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY FEATURE WIN
(EAGLE RIVER, WI) July 11 – It’s not very often a daughter can race against her own dad – much less beat him.
But that’s exactly what happened when Rhinelander’s Hope Eisel scored her first career feature win in the street stock class at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday.
Eisel took the lead at the drop of the green and fought off not only her dad “The Mayor of Sugar Camp” Jason Eisel, but also defending track champion Emerson Manos and last week’s feature winner “The Iceman” Quentin Morrison to secure the feature flag.
Ontonagon, Michigan’s Dave Dishaw took the lead on lap four and went on to win the B mod feature win. The victory was Dishaw’s fourth here of the season.
Dishaw, who started in the fourth row, jumped into the second spot on a lap two restart. Two circuits later the Michigan racer ducked underneath Rhinelander’s Judd Skubal to snatch the lead.
Dishaw kept the lead through a mid-race caution and was never headed the balance of the contest, holding on to the top spot and cruised to his fourth feature flag here. Jason Zdroik took second at the pay window with Dustin White, Scott Swanson and Judd Skubal rounding out the top five finishers.
Hometown driver David Blackberg continued his winning ways, capturing his fifth feature flag of the season here in the stock car division.

The 600 micro sprint car feature got off to a rough start with one lap in when Colton Rein and Dustin Kangas tangled and both wound up into the concrete wall in turn one. When the dust settled, and racing resumed Eagle River’s Tommie Joe Springer won the feature. Earlier in the night Springer also copped the heat race win, netting her a clean sweep on the evening.
A pair of hometown drivers split the 300 micro sprint features – Eagle River’s own Mason Meier (Pro) and Lucas Zdroik (semi-pro).
During the evening a handful of Midwest Sprint Association (MSA 360) racers were on hand to give the fans a sneak preview of the Saturday night “open wheel” special coming up Saturday, July 29 at the speedway. Among the drivers in attendance was NASCAR Cup driver Josh Bilicki of Richfield.
Weekly racing will resume on Tuesday, July 18. The pure stock division will join the program’s weekly divisions. The first green flag flies with an earlier-than-normal start time at 7 p.m. For further information fans are advised to check the track’s Facebook page.
