MOTHER NATURE TAKES EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY’S CHECKERED FLAG

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) June 13 – Steady, persistent rains all day long forced the cancellation of the stock car races at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday.

Weekly racing will resume at the third-mile, clay oval on Tuesday, June 20 with a “Summer Solstice” celebration.

With two nights of racing hometown racer David Blackberg remains unbeaten in Coffen Construction stock car action. The defending track champion has captured both division feature races run this season.

A pair of different winners found victory lane in the Chef Rene B modifieds this year. Ontonagon, Michigan’s Dave Dishaw and hometown ace Dustin White have garnered feature flags. However, Eagle Rivers Jason Zdroik remains the division’s points leader heading into the “meat” of the Eagle River Speedway schedule in ’23.

Zdroik remains unbeaten in Sweetwater late model competition, where he’s won both feature races.

The “Mayor of Sugar Camp” Jason Eisel won the week two Eagle River Dock and Lift street stock feature and currently holds the division point lead. Pell Lake visitor Cody Potter topped the field on opening night with a feature win.

In the JD Paintball and Archery 600 micro sprints both feature wins have been collected by defending champion Andy Fink of Minocqua (the current point leader) along with Phelps Dustin Kangas.

It’s been a mixed bag of winners in the Halsey Fab/Dan’s Service 300 micro sprint classes, where no less than four youngsters have found the Auto Value victory lane. Feature winners so far this year include hometown racers Mason Meier and Lucas Zdroik, Escanaba, Michigan’s Bentley Richer and Miken Iverson of Gailsville.

Phillips’ Devin Fries scored the solo feature win in the pure stocks as they division runs roughly every few weeks.

Racing resumes next Tuesday, June 20. The first green flag flies at 7:30 p.m. For further information fans are advised to check the track’s Facebook page.
