LACROSSE LANDS IMCA MOD WIN NO. 133 – WILSON, LEMIEUX JR., SPAULDING & MICHIGAN VISITOR CRONICK ALSO SCORE FEATURE FLAGS (submitted by Joe Orsini)
(LUXEMBURG, WI) June 4 – Wisconsin’s all time IMCA modified feature winner Benji LaCrosse added another “W” to his overall win total by capturing the feature flag at The ‘Burg Speedway Sunday night.
LaCrosse pushed his total number of IMCA modified wins to 133 with his victory here Sunday.
Other feature winners who wound up in victory lane included Sobieski’s Tyler Wilson (IMCA stock car), Randy LeMieux Jr. of Sturgeon Bay (IMCA northern sportmod), Greenville’s Jared Spaulding (Unified street stock) and Faithorn, Michigan visitor Trevor Cronick (murder hornet).
Brad Theys snatched the lead on the opening lap of the Village Kitchen IMCA Modified feature event.  “Racin’” Jason Czarapata dropped from the pole to 2nd while Benji LaCrosse wasted no time tiptoeing through the tulips on the high side to 3rd.  At the halfway mark LaCrosse had worked past Czarapata into 2nd and was pursuing Theys.  Meanwhile, back in the pack, Shawn Kilgore ran the high side into 3rd from his 8th place starting spot.  In the closing laps LaCrosse caught Theys and used the momentum of the high side to slide his 54 machine into the lead.  When the double checkers flew LaCrosse was the top dog followed closely by Theys in 2nd.  Kilgore ran out of time to run down the lead pair and settled for 3rd while Czarapata hung on to finish 4th.
The Quietwoods RV IMCA Stock Car A-main event kicked off with the front row of Dusty Loberger and Tom Brumlic battling door to door on the opening lap for the top spot.  Shortly, Shawn Havel had a dog in the fight as his 9K machine joined the lead duo and a three wide brawl ensued for the lead.  Brumlic emerged from the scrum to be the leader of the pack with Havel in tow for 2nd and Loberger dropping to 3rd.  Havel was not content and threw his ride to the topside to pull door to door with Brumlic again.  Brumlic withstood this challenge but Havel was undeterred and found an opening on the inside and used that gap to launch into the lead.  The K9 of Tyler Wilson took advantage of the same opening to slide past into 2nd.  A lap later caution flew with 7 laps remaining when Brumlic spun out of 3rd place in turn 4.  The restart had Havel leading Wilson, Cole Czarneski, and Dylan “Freight Train” Stedjee back to racing conditions.  Wilson set to work on the bottom groove and wheeled past Havel into the top spot.  When the checkers waved, Wilson laid claim to the title of “Big Dog” of the class labeled too tough to tame.  Havel came home 2nd, Stedjee grabbed 3rd in the closing laps, and Czarneski completed the top four.
Seth Hoeffner took full advantage of the P1 starting spot to lead the opening lap of the IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature.  His lead was cut short as Randy LeMieux Jr. immediately found the high side to his liking and used it to clear Hoeffner.  As the 18L of LeMieux looked to check out the pack of dogs behind him fought over the scraps for 2nd as Hoeffner and Craig Dorner raced low and high respectively for the runner up spot.  When the dust settled LeMieux secured the win, Doerner 2nd, Hoeffner 3rd, and opening night winner, Cody Rass, completed a charge from 9th to finish 4th.
The drop of the green in the NEW Tech Metals Unified Dirt Street Stock feature saw Todd Berzowski wheel his 5 car to the point from his row 2 starting spot.  By lap 3 though “The Muscles from Brussels” Garrett Geyer worked to the lead, bringing Jared Spaulding with him past Berzowski.  Geyer and Spaulding staged a side by side battle for the lead while defending division champ, Shanon Guelette, moved into 3rd.  The trio of Geyer, Spaulding, and Guelette set to entertain the fans with a three car war for the win.  A late caution with 3 laps remaining set the stage for a dramatic finish.  At the line Spaulding held off the pack to capture the checkers, Guelette was 2nd, Geyer 3rd, and Jason Geyer finished out the top 4.
The Murder Hornet feature opened with Neil Watcka grabbing the first lap lead while Scott Schlafke and Trevor Cronick set to settle the score for 2nd.  Cronick cleared Schlafke and went to work on Watcka for the lead with Cronick eventually locking up the top spot.  Schlafke moved into 2nd but was unable to hold that position as Watcka came back to grab the runner up spot.  At the finish Cronick held on to win, Watcka crossed the line scored second but failed a post race mechanical inspection and was disqualified.  That moved Schlafke into 2nd, Adam Broehm to 3rd, and James Riske to 4th.
